AFC North teams made some BIG moves today
RAVENS MAKE BIG SIGNING
Adam Caplan, of Scout.com, reports the Baltimore Ravens have signed unrestricted free-agent C Matt Birk (Vikings) to a three-year deal worth $12 million. The contract includes $6 million in guarantees.
ESPNews reports the Baltimore Ravens have reached an agreement in principle with unrestricted free-agent LB Ray Lewis. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports the Baltimore Ravens are expected to re-sign unrestricted free-agent LB Ray Lewis by the end of the week. The contract is expected to be less than the three-year, $24 million that has been speculated.
BENGALS TOO:
Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports the Cincinnati Bengals have signed unrestricted free-agent WR Laveranues Coles (Jets) to a four-year deal worth $28 million.
Sean Jensen, of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, reports the Cincinnati Bengals will meet with restricted free-agent FB Naufahu Tahi (Vikings) Thursday, March 5.

birk will be 33 and lewis 34 by opening day, 2 awfull signings for a young rebuilding team that has no chance to compete after what they have lost in coaching and defensive starters.
lewis was already slowing down alot last yr, this yr he will just be a big pain in the ass to that team after the ryan left.He doesnt want to be there and will be bitching and moaning after that defense gets lit up a few times.
the smart long term move would have been to sign mcfadden to replace mcallister long term and to draft alex mack at center, two moves that make that team better in the long run and cripple the steelers in the proccess. But no they sign 2 players who will be watching football on thier couch in 2 yrs...... thats why the steelers win the division yr in and yr out!

I hate watching Lewis so much, i will not even enjoy the endless camera shots of him yelling at his teammates and trying to look noble...but i will be glad if he is moaning like that because Heath just ran over him on his way to a touchdown!!!

I hate watching him dance before games. What I hate even more is the way the NFL media portrays him a holy man and absolute staple of goodness when the guy should be in jail for accessory for murder. What short sightedness the media has developed. I still don't know how that posse got away with what they did. However, I do think that Lewis may be the best defensive player in NFL history - just a statement, not worth explaining, but it is too bad that I place that tag on someone I cannot stand to watch play and that I think should be behind bars - yet alone a Raven.
He still plays good, remember the way he ripped Willie down to the ground causing a fumble and he broke Mendenhall's sholder on a catch tackle. They say he can't cover the pass anymore but he had 3 interceptions in 08. Birk is a great center. They just lost their upstart center. Excellent job by the Ravens. Wish we would grab on to OL talent like that.

The biggest surprise to me was the Browns dumping Winslow. In the short time that Brady Quinn played last year, he and Winslow seemed to have some chemistry and playmaking ability. The Brownies made a huge mistake by getting a giant hard-on for Derek Wilson after he had one above-average year, and keeping a number one draft pick who is more than ready to play on the bench. Oh well, I guess that's why they're the Brownies.
