Nate a Titan

Postby McLovin » Mon Mar 02, 2009 6:49 pm

Nate Washington a Titan...according to Nashville paper...terms not disclosed. Just like I said...they weren't going to leave Nate leave with the obvious lack of talent at WR on that team. Good Bye Nate...Hello Limas!

A marginal loss.

He contributed, but it's not like teams gameplan for him.

Hello Stiller fans,

Had to stop by and ask about Nate. Seeing some posts, I hope we didn't get a "lemon" so to speak.

What are his positives/ negatives?

Thanks and take care,
Voltan

Positive is he can get deep...negative is you have 50/50 chance he'll make the catch. Hopefully Nate works out better for you than Thigpen did.

Nate made some plays for the Stillers, but dropped too many for my taste.
Hopefully Pola can remind him where he came from.

Is Martin Nance still on the roster? I know he was a practice squadder, and
a decent WR will be on the draft list 2nd day; so Sweed goes to 3 and Nance to 4?

Nance not the answer as #4. A WR will certainly be drafted now...I like Brian Robiske..the anti-sweed...great hands...called the most polished WR in the draft after the combine. He had great jr year his first as a starter with 953 yds and 11 tds but this year his stats slipped with Pryor being erractic at best. Problem is with McFadden unsigned that leaves DB a higher priority than WR and Robiske a solid 2nd round pick. I'd prefer the OL and DL get priority if possible but if Colbert goes BPA as he did last year WR could get consideration with Ward in last year of contract and ARGUABLY on the decline

Titans | Washington contract details
Mon, 02 Mar 2009 15:52:42 -0800

Updating a previous report, John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports the Tennessee Titans have signed unrestricted free-agent WR Nate Washington (Steelers) to a six-year deal worth $27 million. The contract includes $9 million in guarantees.

nate had a hof qb throwing him the ball alot of times as his third read when holmes and ward were covered. ward and holmes are 2 good wrs recievers ,not in no way shape or form a tandem feared like fitz and boldin or or huz and ocho cinco when they were on thier game 3 yrs ago.
the point is , the titans are not getting a potentially great wr who did not get his chance sitting behind 2 elite nfl recievers.
basically the titans got thier larry brown, a guy who benefitted from being a 2 time sb champion playing with good to great players around him.

the reality is , he will probably be cut within 3 seasons as the titans will realize nate is a below avg nfl reciever who needs a great qb with very good recievers in front of him.

nates a decent 3rd or 4th wr and the titans think they bought a number 1....

from what I have seen , limas at the least will put up the numbers nate put up the last 2 seasons. limas has shown he can blow past nfl corners and drop balls like nate, so its a wash there.

That is at least 7 and a half million more in guarantees than Nate is worth. He has some skills but he dropped so many big passes for so long that I, almost disproportionally, found myself being pleased when he made a big catch...that, however, is not the same as being good...he will not be missed much in the Offensive scheme...I would wish him well...but that is hard to do with him going to the Titans...so instead I will thank him for the few memorable catches he made and we can plug someone the same or better in there. Maybe this will open up more catches for Heath!

Also...good comments DarthSteel

Good riddance... this guy drops way too many passes and rarely makes the tough catch in traffic. He also likes to dance and trash talk a lot for a guy who makes as many blunders as he does.

$6 million a year is ludicrous for this guy.... another example of how the Steelers refuse to overpay guys and let other teams give silly contracts to marginal players.

Limas Sweed is ready to step in next year and will have no trouble matching and exceeding Washington's play.

The most telling comment is the footage of Mike Tomlin telling Nate this year "you're not just happy to be here this year". Which is pretty sad considering this was his 4th year. Pretty much says it all for me.

Remember, this guy couldn't even beat out Cedric Wilson of all people. Talk about suck.

Reminds me of the Titans Yancy Thigpen signing a decade ago, except Yancy was actually decent when he was here.

A lot of negative talk about Nate - fact is, Nate will be a decent Number 2 WR in Titan Land. He's not great, but he doesn't suck and he can get deep.

Collins will have time to throw the ball and plenty of play-action with the Titan running game will only enhance Nate's value to that team. I think it's a good fit for both teams.

Good luck Nate.

Once again I see people hating on players because they left, to make themselves feel better about them leaving. COngrats Nate! If you watched the SB you could see Hines whispering in Nate's ear. I'm sure he felt that the guy would leave and make more money. These guys know what their market value is BEFORE they become free agents. That's what a good agent/lawyer does. Project the market. Go look at the end of the game, Hines knew Nate was going to leave. Nate had some drops but Ben underthrew the guy at least once a game. I'll miss him.

I'm happy for him.

Did you enjoy the Superbowl loser? Did you sit at home and rewind the Steeler/Tenn game? Well...that meaningless game was your Superbowl.. You will never win shit... The Titans..like the Oilers are ETERNAL LOSERS and will forever be dwarfed by the Greatest franchise in the history of the NFL... The Pittsburgh Steelers.

"Although Washington was the team's No. 3 receiver behind Santonio Holmes and Hines Ward, his departure leaves a hole in the Super Bowl champions' offense.

"A big one," offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said on Monday night. "The guy (Washington) became a heck of a player for us. He takes the top end off the coverage. "

He's gonna keep the safety honest and open huge lanes for CJ........... 2009...............LOOK OUT!

Isn't there some Titan board to hang around? I don't really come to a Steeler message board to read the annoying ramblings of a long suffering Titans fan.

And for those saying we're hating on a player because he's leaving, that's simply not the case with me in regard to Nate. I've not been a Nate Washington fan for his entire tenure here.

Simply put, the guy dropped far too many passes he should have caught. While, that might be acceptable when you're a 1st or 2nd year player, there was no noticeable improvement in this area over his entire tenure here. If Nate ever decides to go up to get a ball, it will be a first.
