Palmersucks..EXCELLENT piece...I knew right away what you meant with the title to this because I thought the same thing...Ben grabbed his helmet and said, "off to work..."

I have not heard anyone but you mention that Fitz's first TD should have been reviewed...def hit the turf as he was going down...

spot on article...loved it!

That article was awesome. Especially the part about the Stillers O vs. the Cardinals D deciding the outcome. I also liked how you stated Big Ben was able to overcome late defensive lapses in the 4th quarter. (with a terrible O-line I might add)

This was really Ben's season. There would have been no playoff appearance this year for the Stillers without him, I suspect. He won some games for us. My hat is off to the guy, who basically played with a bad shoulder for much of the season.

I noted with satisfaction this year that Ben can now progress to his third read rather quickly and efficiently (had trouble progressing much at all in the past). Case in point, the final TD pass to Holmes.

He's only going to get better, IMO, as long as his legs remain healthy; I expect a lot more great play from this team in the next 4-5 years.

PalmerSucks, you are by far the best writer on Stillers.com. Almost every one of your articles gives me a good chuckle. Props bro! :sucope:

In case you’re wondering about the “Calmly Reach for Helmet” title, grab a cold one and cue up your trusty game tape. Go to the part right after Fitzgerald scores his last TD, where they cut to Ben Roeth on the sideline grabbing his helmet. Notice the look on his face – or actually, the lack of expression altogether. It’s as if he’s getting ready to come out for the opening drive of a pre-season game. If there’s one moment that most captures Super Bowl XLIII, this is it.

This moment stands out even more when compared to what Warner was doing when Ben had finished his work. Granted, 35 seconds is much less than the time Ben had, but this was the great Kurt Warner; Kurt Warner with the unstoppable Fitz and two other 1000 yard receivers in tow; Kurt Warner, who had already posted stats so gaudy in the game that he seemingly ruined all those comparisons of this Stiller D to the Steel Curtains of the past; Kurt Warner, who had just three short minutes before smoked the Stiller D for a quicker than 35 seconds score; Kurt Warner who came into the game with no less than HOF aspirations. This Kurt Warner, with 35 seconds on the clock, was crying foul on the sidelines rather than rising to the challenge, the opportunity to define his greatness. He was beat before he even took the field.

Easterbrook and several others reached this conclusion as well...before we go off ball-washing writers on this site.

Easterbrook had it in his column the week leading up to the Super Bowl.

Here's his article...a full SIX DAYS before PalmerSucks posted his article. Imagine that!

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/st ... ortCat=nfl

And it wasn't so much the defense collapsing (although they did do so in the AFCDG and the Super Bowl- the AFCCG was a case of piss-poor offense keeping a beaten Ravens team in the game- and the defense bailed the team out with troy's clinching pick) during the regular season as it was the offense fiddle-fucking for most of the game before putting it together late.

In many games, the offense had the opportunity to salt the game away, and rarely ever did.

Unless you expect the defense to hold teams to 7 points/game?
