This ends the Dan hired the wrong coach talk

Anyone who doesn't think so can watch this trophy presentation again.
(now offensive coordinator is another story.)

Could not agree more. The guy just carries himself the right way and says all the right things. It's easy to say right now, but I'm a believer.

"This has been our story all year".

No doubt about that.

This is the one team about which it can be truly said that "keep it close, and hope to win in the 4th Quarter" was the right strategy.

While I agree, I think overall Whisenhunt has done a heckuva job. The team, and the organization, was total dogshit when he showed up, and he got them in the super bowl in 2 years. Beat teams they had no right to, and I must say, he out-coached Mike Smith who got the Coach of the Year nod and was everybody's favorite up-and-comer, and then Andy Reid and John Fox along the way, two guys who are regarded as decent coaches. Well, maybe not Fox, there was nothing the guy could do with the game DelHomme put up.

When he left for Arizona, I thought he'd need 5 years to bring them up the level they played in the playoffs.

Why is it an either/or proposition?

I agree the critics have been silenced but the Steelers had the pick of the litter and choosing Whisenhunt wouldn't necessarily have been a mistake based on his performance to date.

I'm not saying Whiz or Grimm would have been bad.

I am saying Tomlin was not the wrong hire.

Proof by results.
Tomlin was the right hire.
