the defense might have not have had its best game statistically, but they made plays. harrison's 100 yd int return and woodley's sack to seal the deal were huge plays by the D. I did expect the cards to get their points, though I predicted giving up 2 TD's, not 3.

I can't wait to here the grades this week. because I'm ready to rebut "the still mill's" normal antics against Farrior, Hampton and Lebeau. so you better make sure you look twice. make it thrice... I thought offensive play calling was not to bad. Our offensive line was simply terrible. but we were able to move to the goaline quite a bit. but when we get down there, we struggled, like we did all year... anytime a team gets to the goaline, thats when your going to see the true strength of your offensive lines, and we are not good down there, leaving teams in the game, we even tried passing a few times in this game . So its no secret our o line is weak... but still 4 trips to goaline and we got 2 tds and 2 fieldgoals.

On the defence... Well we used mostly a nickel d all game taking
Foote and Hampton out and putting in Timmons and a extra d back. (as the still mill suggested) and other than a 82 yard drive in the second qtr and the last 10 minutes of the game, it was working, and against a very potent offence, and we won. So ill take the win as it is, but saying all that, our d still gave up the most yards it did all year using a defence that "the still mill" suggested. So just keep that in your back burner.

Holmes won the mvp... and he was the right person.. Ben was simply awesome all game, and true montana like, going 88 yards, with 2:24 on the clock, having 2 time outs, a 2 minute warning, with it being 1st and 20. and you can argue he should have won mvp, and you wouldn't get much argument from me, but Holmes single handly accounted for 74 yards of that 88 yard drive, getting a lot of yards after catch, and catching the game winning td, that was simply amazing. you can't get any better than that.

Our beloved steelers are 6 times champs... That just sounds so good.

No, we didnt rush 3 men or play 22 yards off the LOS "all game". The TWO biggest plays by the Cards were the DIRECT RESULT of stupidfuk schemes by LeBeau --

1. 45-yarder to Boldin. 3-MAN RUSH.

2. 64-yard TD pass to Fitz, with our safeties lines up in NO MAN'S LAND 22-yards off the LOS.

NEITHER of these "defenses" is what I fuking suggested in my pregame. Now, shut the fuk up and stop wasting our time with your bullshit blather and gross stupidity.

2 biggest gripes from the game:

Willie Parker is a cowardly runner. Simple as that. He almost went to his knees before taking a hit in our own endzone.

The sooner he is gone the better.

WHY THE FUCK didn't we go for it from the 1 foot line in the first quarter?

Kicking that field goal was one of the worst calls I've ever seen and showed serious nervousness from the coaching staff.

I agree going for the field goal was a conservative call, but the way our goal line offense has played this year I'm not certain it was the wrong call. Could go either way I guess.

I am guessing Arians will be back next year. Would like to see a college football team steal him away.

What a great super bowl!!! Had me worried, but all in all, we won and that is what beautiful about this whole thing. Ben is amazing. Way to go Mr. Clutch.

I can't wait to see the maturation of Timmons next year. It'll be nice to see him start all 16.

After further review, I tend to agree LeBeau's overall scheme was sound, but the last TD to Fitz was an egregious display of ultra-conservatism for which Lebeau should be held accountable.

The defense as a whole also lost both focus AND composure when the Steelers got up 13, which I also did not like to see. That shouldn't happen to a #1 D.

Other times, the scheme was sound, but the execution was horrible. Too many players playing WAY too out of control, and letting those simple plays into the flat go for big gains when they otherwise should have been stopped (I thought the scheme of giving up the flats was sound...IF the players had executed. But only Timmons seemed to do so with any regularity).

But until the 4th Quarter breakdowns, they held Fitz to 1 catch for 12 yards, and that scheme on the Harrison INT was pure genius- they BAITED Warner into making that throw.

So you shouldn't criticize without pointing out the good things that happened on D as well.

We can't have everything... sure it would have been nice to just slam the door shut at 20-7, but ARI took advantage of a few poor plays on Pittsburgh's part. The Stillers did not play their absolute best game thoughout the playoffs, but they still won. The only thing is, no other team played their absolute best game in the playoffs either. No other team went the entire game without a poorly called defensive scheme or a few sputtered drives near the goalline. The Stilers defense still held the Cards to fewer points than any other team in the playoffs. Could they have done better in the 2nd half? Of course. But no other team did better in containing the Cards either.

What is the standard we should use? Perfection/Pure excellence? Or performance relative to the rest of the 2008 NFL? If you use pure excellence as the standard, then fire away at last nights performance.

For me, we had the hardest schedule, a terrible O line most of the time, some poor OC calling most of the time, and we still won it all.

The bottom line is a very nice one =)

I may look in again next season because there are several good steeler fans that haunt these message boards and I really do enjoy their, and your ,insight.
