Re: New Article: We're The CHAMPS !!
I was a little disappointed in the softee Defense, but Arians.... C'mon guy. Everything that worked early in the game we just quit doing in the 2nd half. Why, why, why?
Hopefully Arians is gone, but I don't care right now. What a win.

there is always a way to criticize certain portions of how we played, etc, but maybe the Cardinals deserve a bit of credit as well. Either way, Ben and Tonio made a clutch play for the ages.... can't really argue that...

Mill:
Can't wait to read your analysis. My quick thoughts:
1. The offensive line was more disappointing than Arians' playcalling. The sacks, the non-existent running game, the safety - all problems of execution by the line.
2. In your poll, I assigned more blame to LeBeau than Arians. Arizona's first touchdown in the second half came because the defense couldn't keep up with the no-huddle. The second came because of blown coverage. As to the inability of the Steelers to score a touchdown despite having six tries to go seven years or less, see no. 1 above about the offensive line.
3. I was a big Whisenhunt fan and believe he almost coached the Cardinals to victory despite a lesser-skilled collection of players. He exploited the Steelers' weaknesses (esp. in having Warner throw short successfully much of the game). Ultimately the Cardinals lost and deserved to lose because the defense couldn't step up when it had to on the last drive.
4. Not sure who gets the hard hat. Not Troy Polamalu, that's for sure; perhaps Big Ben who played well though somewhat erratically but nevertheless came through on the final drive. Certainly Santonio for a great game. And what the hell, Harrison's interception was the most amazing thing I've ever seen at a sporting event - add that to his beatdown of a Cardinals blocker on the punt and give him a hard hat with matching boxing gloves.
The better team won, barely. I would have been happy just beating Jacksonville and New England in the regular season. I would have been happy with the sweep of the Ravens. One for the other thumb was the icing on a cake for the ages.

Touro Fan, good point but harrison's whupping on the punt pinned our asses back an extra yard.. and that really hurt in the end... the int and runback were jut unreal.

MVP awards are given by stats...or, if there are no stats, it goes to the QB.
But I kinda agree- Santonio doesn't get the chance to be a hero without Ben improvising like mad on that last drive.

We are the Super Bowl Camps!
Their was definitely some animosity among our crowd toward arians...I formation was working...so of course you would instead pull that extra tight end who is too close to the line and has no real vision to block...and shot gun formation on second down...the trick play of snapping to parker...ughhh...and on and on...but they had some fluid offensive play at times and Ben and Santonio pulled it out...along with some heroics from Harrison and Woodly....and others on D....Lebeau did not call a stellar game on D...but as a whole...along with the offense... Won the Game...as a TEAM...the Super Bowl 43 Winning Pittsbugh Stillers!
Yeah!

Re: New Article: We're The CHAMPS !!
I've hated on Arians like crazy during his tenure. Though not perfect his 3 playoff gameplans were much better. I'll give him another year and hopefully he gets some better offensive linemen for next year, because that's why we nearly lost...the inability to run and keep Warner off the field in the 2H, the safety, the holding calls...ugh.
As for LeBeau, there definitely should have been someone in the middle of the field on Fitz's long td simply because of the situation. But sometimes you have to tip your cap to the other team.

Re: New Article: We're The CHAMPS !!
steelers defense in the 4th qt was dissapointing and will take away from thier legacy as a great defense no matter how you spin it.
I think we would all agree to be an alltime top 1-5 defense, they need to add an elite corner or for mcfadden to step up and become that guy(he has the tools to). Ike is a nice number 2 , but he will never be a guy who can take out a top 5 nfl reciever which you need to be called an alltime defense.
bottom line is we still have no answer for a moss , andre johnson, fitzgerald, owens , burress type. I know no one else in the leage currently does, but no ones calling any of them a alltime defense.
still as is , thier probably the in the top 3 defenses of the decade behind the ravens sb d and the bucs sb defense which a few times held the rams offense down in the playoffs.
woodly and timmons should be better next yr which will ake the d up another notch...
