Andrew Brandt, of The National Football Post, reports the prices for franchise tag players and transition tag players for the 2009 season have been announced.

Quarterbacks will carry a franchise tag of $14.65 million and a transition tag of $12.44 million.

Offensive lineman will carry a franchise tag of $8.45 million and a transition tag of $7.74 million.

Wide receivers will carry a franchise tag of $9.88 million and a transition tag of $8.39 million.

Running backs will carry a franchise tag of $6.62 million and a transition tag of $5.92 million.

Tight ends will carry a franchise tag of $4.46 million and a transition tag of $4.07 million.

Defensive ends will carry a franchise tag of $8.99 million and a transition tag of $7.78 million.

Cornerbacks will carry a franchise tag of $9.96 million and a transition tag of $8.37 million.

Linebackers will carry a franchise tag of $8.3 million and a transition tag of $7.48 million.

Defensive tackles will carry a franchise tag of $6.06 million and a transition tag of $5.45 million.

Safeties will carry a franchise tag of $6.34 million and a transition tag of $5.13 million.

The tag of a QB means there is no way Cassel will be with NE after this year.

Not sure where they are with cap space but to have ~28 mil tied up in Brady and Cassel will not work.
