Foote to the Lions?

Postby thesteelhammer » Thu Jan 29, 2009 11:58 pm

Mick McCabe and Nicholas J. Cotsonika, of the Detroit Free Press, reports a friend of Pittsburgh Steelers LB Larry Foote says Foote would like to play for the Detroit Lions. Brian Blackburn, Foote's friend, said, "He wants to come back her. This is the last year of his contract, and he wants to come back here and play for the Lions for about four years and call it quits after that." Blackburn added, "He wants to get something set up in the Detroit area for inner-city kids. He's got as real desire to work with kids. As a matter of fact, I tried to get him to come to my son's school at Warren Cousino and speak to the kids, and he said, 'I've got to go in the city first and speak to them.'"

Obviously, he doesn't want to "play" for the Lions. He simply wants to retire for the team from where he is from. He is a Superbowl Champion, most likely going to be a 2nd. He full-filled his football dream and will continue it in Tampa Sunday. He's a player that fits well in a system, average at best, but an excellent blitzer and is a smart player. Would improve the sorry Lions dramatically, but he'd dissapear from the league. Still, I don't see anything wrong with that.

At least Timmons will finally make a HUGE mark for our Defense. Can't wait.

good luck Larry, you're gonna need it, it won't be long before he gets Lionized (term used by radio and newspaper personalities in Detroit which means accepting failure or succumbing to failure).

that's a piss poor run organization in professional sports, the make the Pirates look like the Yankees by comparison. trust me when I say it, and it starts with the owner William Clay Ford Sr. who does not have a clue about running a franchise and he has been owning the team for nearly 45 years. Trust me, it is bad when it comes to the Lions

I wish larry the best in his future endeavors

Larry sees the writing on the wall and it reads LT. Now if Farrior were to leave as well Mill would wet himself. McLovin wouldn't be surprised to see the Steelers take an ILB to groom behind Farrior as this draft is deep at the position. Darry Beckwith of LSU would be a nice 3rd round pick and Jasper Brinkley of SC or even Pitt's Scott Mikillop good mid round prospects.

I'd trade him to the Lions in a heartbeat. Timmons will play full time next season.
Marines should come with warning labels.

i wouldnt mind keeping the guy as a backup, but anyway it's good news if timmons is starting. timmons has foote beat on every category statistically, but has only started 2 games as opposed to foote's 16
