Foote 11th best player

Postby McLovin » Fri Jan 23, 2009 3:41 pm

Just to show how little is going on this week all Ron Cook can think to write about is an article proclaiming Larry Foote to be the 11th best player on defense! Goes to show that you can only ask Hines so many times if he plans on playing in the Super Bowl...great article Cookie...NOT

Nobody knows why Nino. The funny thing is Cook was paying Foote a compliment saying that he's a stalwort on a team of stars and his team high streak of 89 games without missing a start speaks volumes for what the team thinks of him. Screw all that crap get Timmons and all that speed on the field...if he's done being sick this week of course

I actually think that this has been one of Foote's best years. Timmons isn't strong enough to play the run on first down or 2nd and short. So, Foote gets to do what he does best.

But he no longer has to play in space where he is often hopeless.

Either you didn't read the complete article or your comprehension of it is flawed.

Cook's point was that Harrison, Polamalu and Farrior are top 3 (if you accept his premise) and that all the others including Foote are tied for 4th.

And therein lies the farce behind this article. Trusth me told, Foote is about the 15th best player on defense, when you factor in TIMMONS, TOWNSEND, GAY, and others.

Saying that "Foote is tied for 4th" means Foote is up their in value and irreplacability with Aaron Smith, Keisel, McFadden, Ike, and Woodley. A total fuking farce. Cook should be shot for writing such a faggot-laden pile of shit.

Fine and dandy and I personally don't rate Foote that highly especially compared to Smith et al but the point was and is that the original poster's premise is flawed.

Any Player ranking where Aaron Smith isn't #3 on the list of most valuable, is a farce. And Foote should be behind Little Evil on the value chart.

Just wondering if any of you guys think it's possible that lebeau and tomln, who are at practice every day, know more about players' strengths and weaknesses than you do.

Well, let's remember.....Billy Cowhard, AND LeBeau, were around James Harrison "every day at practice". They were so knowledgable and omnipotent that they cut the guy.....3 fuking times.

There goes Mill playing the Cowher is a dumbass card again. Harrison himself admitted that he deserved to be cut. Porter and Farrior both talked about Harrison getting so frustrated that he used to walk out of practice only to return and work hard the next day. Harrison himself said he did that because he was overmatched at the pro level saying he couldn't compete at this level. Farrior credited harrison with hard work on special teams for earning his spot back on the roster.

So true dude....Harrison admitted to being so frustrated he walked off the practice field on more than one occassion. Porter talked about it on NFL network not in a bad way just said the guy worked hard to get where he is today. You just keep bashing Cowher and LeBeau if it makes you feel better about yourself

Harrison didn't play the role of the meek, cowardly rookie, and Cowhard and Dick OVER-LOOKED his physical prowess and his HITTING and cut the guy because he was brash.....3 fuking times. He was just named the DPOY. So, stick Cowhard's and LeBeau's omnipotence in your ear.

Where's your arguement tough guy? McLovin told you a FACT that Harrison said he used to walk out of practice due to frustration on not being good enough. He wasn't cut 3 times because he was doing good! So you were at practice when Cowher and LeBeau were overlooking his physical prowess were you Mill? Where do you get off saying you know ANYTHING about Cowher, LeBeau or anybody that ever worked for the Steelers? If you want to speculate which is all you can do Mill then McLovin' would speculate that harrison credits LeBeau and Cowher for helping him develop into the player he is today.

Uh, sorry, tough guy. Harrison was a tasmanian devil in his first camp with the Stillers. He created havoc all over the field, and got into a number of fights. But, the point is, he made plays everywhere! Cowherd's answer to that was: "he didn't play within the defense. didn't keep his discipline."

fuk that shit. THAT is exactly what COACHES are for.....to take raw talent and MOLD it. Cowhard wasn't interested.

A playmaker is a playmaker. Harrison was a playmaker with freakish tools (squats 500 lbs) and incredible leverage. And your wise, omnipotent, all-knowing Cowhard cut the guy.....3 fuking times. Fuk Billy Cowhard and Fuk u for being too much of an idiot to understand any of this.

That's it swear at McLovin tough guy whatever helps your little self esteem. If Harrison couldn't grasp the defense he deserved to be cut 3 times what else would you have them do with him? McLovin could see you being so upset if Harrison had stayed a Raven or landed with another team but here he is a Steeler. 31 other coaches and scouts must've saw the same thing because here he is a Steeler having NOT made anybody elses roster. Instead of swearing and calling names, just be glad that Harrison and his coaches worked hard to make him the great player he is today.

Oh, bullshit !! 31 other coaches (aside from the Ravens) didn't have Harrison INSIDE their practice facility; INSIDE their weight room, and ON their practice fields. 31 other coaches didn't have an UP CLOSE look at Harrison's upper body strength, leg strength, power, leverage, and explosiveness.

Donnie Shell was a tough, rugged player as well. Chuck Noll gave him a chance. Lord Billy Cowher, who never once developed ANYBODY that wasn't already developed, couldn't be bothered with such bothersome tasks such as coaching, tutoring, and mentoring.

Ahhh more swearing from the tough guy. There you go again making ASSUMPTIONS. How do you know who had Harrison in for a workout? Do you honestly believe there is a coach or a scout in the league that doesn't know a players measurables? No arguement Noll the superior teacher to Cowher. Few coaches EVER were better at developing talent than Noll you're not enlightening anybody with that scoop. Well documented Steelers the pioneers of scouting the small schools for the Mel Blounts, Greenwoods, and Stallworths and turning athletes into football players. Thanks for the football lesson tough guy!

Thanks for helping to prove my point. Harrison was never a big MEASURABLES guy. The Combine, and most NFL scouting, revolves around these metrics:

- height
- speed
- shuttle
- standing vertical jump
- bench

Harrison was SHORT, with mediocre SPEED, and probably wasn't lights out on the shuttle or the vert jump. His lone good metric would have been the bench.

But we had Harrison INSIDE our facilities. We had a FIRST HAND, UP CLOSE look at ALL THOSE OTHER INTANGIBLES, such as:

- nastiness and tenacity
- could NOT be blocked, constantly disrupted the offense
- extreme leg strength and power
- extremem upper body strength
- uncanny LEVERAGE ability

He was sitting there, in front of our very eyes, and Dullard Dick and Silly Billy cut his ass 3 times. Why? Because they were idiots. 'nuf said.
