Some Highlights from Ed Bouchette's Chat

Postby steelcitymetal » Tue Jan 20, 2009 3:12 pm

psauvageot: I see the Steelers are listed as the away team for the Super Bowl. Will they be wearing white or is there a chance they can wear black?

Ed Bouchette: That was a debate I had with someone yesterday. Whis was here and they were the home team in Detroit but chose white because they won the previous 3 in white on the road. Will Whis have his team wear white to foil the Steelers wearing white? I normally wouldn't mention it but that's how coaches think sometimes.

Katmandu: Ed, your thoughts on the touchdown that was taken off the board from Holmes? I thought that was the reffing blunder of the year.

Ed Bouchette: I thought it was a touchdown. Perhaps they wanted to even things out from the last game.

Y-townSteelerfan: Ed, in your opinion, was that a catch by Santonio in the end zone? I felt worse-case-scenario should have been the ball at the goal line.

Ed Bouchette: I never thought they would rule incomplete. I thought it was going to be TD, or at the one, same as you.

SteelersinWyo: Ed, there is a lot of talk about Whiz having the upper hand with his experience in Pittsburgh. How can that be since the personnel and staff have changed quite a bit?

Ed Bouchette: It hasn't changed all that much, especially the QB and that to me is where Whis has an edge because he was in Ben's head for 3 years and knows a little how it ticks.

Whiz may know what pass plays Ben is most comfortable with but shouldn't Ben be a more mature, experienced, knowledgable qb operating from a different playbook under Arians? Nevermind don't answer that... but Whiz can't account for Ben's ability to scamble away from pressure as he did Sunday in finding Holmes for the 60+ catch and run. McLovin' not too worried about Whiz and his mind games over Ben. Whiz has his own issues trying to stop Dick from dialing up blitzes on immobile Kurt Warner and dealing with Anquan Boldin...what a dolt that guy is leaving the field during the biggest win in 60 yrs of his teams existence. Anyway, will be an interesting chess match between Dick and Whiz not so much Whiz and Ben.

To continue McLovin's berading of Limas Sweed... Easy Ed in his chat brought up a good point that not only did Sweed not only drop a sure touchdown to compound the problem he layed on the ground like a pussy costing the Steelers a time out! Great point Ed you Douchebag! Cut that assfuck or find a wide receivers coach that can actually teach the sorry sack of shit how to play football!

Although I'd give the edge to the coach, why can't the players and continuing assistants in Pittsburgh be used to account for Whisenhunts and Grimm's tactics and thought patterns? I'm sure Ben, Ward, Miller, Willie etc. remember the meetings and design intent of these two. Ariens and his play calling is and was nothing like Whiz's. This would seem to offset though if I had to, I would still give the edge to the coach.
