You know what this means...

Postby KingCool » Mon Jan 19, 2009 12:05 am

Bruce Arians will definitely be back next year no matter what.

Funny on one hand... however his play calling in the fourth quarter was some of the worst I've ever witnessed in my 30 years of watching football.

Conservative doesn't even begin to describe it.

Well he was obviously trying to get Willie 30 more touches so he could get his 100 yards, makes perfect sense.

Disagree.
He won't be fired. That is for sure.
I'd say it actually increases the odds of him being hired away.

Early play calling was great, I thought... and then disintegrated as the night went on.

Because the previous coordinators under Cowher were NEVER that conservative in the 4th quarter right? Good call.

well i can see why they went conservative with a lead vs the ravens. the ravens D is honestly a bigger threat to score than their offense is, so they were going to force flacco to beat them while playing field position. How the game was going, I wasn't convinced that the balt offense was any threat barring any huge mistake on special teams or the steelers offense.

now against the cards, i dont see the turtle ball happening. same reason why they were going for more points despite a 2 score lead against the chargers, were because the chargers O is a big play threat. baltimore's offense is not, and you have to play it accordingly. I for one think the right gameplan on offense was called against the ravens. sure it's more fun to watch an aggressive strategy, but it was smart to put the game on the defense who for the most part, gave flacco nothing to work with all day. their only scores ultimately came off 2 penalties and a big special teams play, not because their offense beat us.

point i really wanted to say is. lead vs balt offense - don't turn the ball over, fg's are okay. lead vs high-powered offenses (like SD and Arizona) - go for a 3+ score lead because a 1 score lead is absolutely not safe

El nino...you make good sense...i hope and believe that we will be able to run more against the cards...and that should help us from having to play the way we had to today...baltimore is a tough defense...i am no arians fan...but we made some of the plays we needed to today on offense...and most of the ones on defense...and overall we made more than the ravens...

damn i love seeing some big plays from our guys...especially polamalu...

arians has another chance to gain some respect...go steelers!!!
