Super Bowl Tix Dilemma- Opinions please

Postby Ben's Bad Shoulder » Sun Jan 18, 2009 6:45 pm

Heres my dilemma:

Following a win today, I was prepared to go online to stub hub and buy a ticket to the SB.
IMMEDIATELY, Money no object. (Hey, I'm going on 49....., never been to a SB.....never know if or when I'llget another chance)

I had all my ducks lined up- Wife gave me the OK to go solo, Have a buddy in Tampa so hotel availability is not a problem, Fly in to Orlando, stay a night and see my sister).

Here's the problem- earlier today, my buddy from Tampa calls and asks if I am going to the SB if the Steelers win.I say "Yes, and oh by the way, I am staying at your house." He says he would like to go to the game too but will only want to spend about $500 for a ticket. (he is a Brown's fan, by the way). I tell him there is no way he will get a ticket for $500 if the Steelers are playing. (He does not understand this- I try to tell him about Steelerr Nation, to no avail).

He then says "We can wait until gameday and scalp tickets right before or after kickoff"

Silently, I am thinking- "If I go top Tampa to see the game- I'm in the stadium about 2 hrs before kickoff to drink it all in".

So here are my choices:

A. Buy my buddy a ticket, accept his $500 and eat the balance of his ticket

B. Buy one ticket and tell him good luck you are on your own to find one. (Which means we will sit separately)

C. Take his plan and try to buy tix at the game with no guarantee of seeing the game live

Friends don't let friends be browns fans.

Buy your one ticket.

If he wants to scalp, you can walk around with him.
If he finds two tickets together at price you can live with, I'm sure the scalper will buy your ticket.

If he doesn't find his ticket. He can wait in the car while you use your ticket.
That will teach him to be cheap browns fan.

I've obviously never been to a Super Bowl, but I hear it's a bit of a letdown to actually go. The problem is it's all corporate/CEO types, many of whom were given tickets by their companies or whatever. I've read several articles who have said the stadium was way too quiet. On top of that, there's no legitimate home team, so the crowd never really rallies behind either team.

That said, I can't say I'd pass up the opportunity to find out myself either. So more power to ya!

Tell your buddy you'll get the tickets and he'll get the prostitutes.

Can't disagree more, Detroit was an all around amazing experience. A Super Bowl and a Steeler Super Bowl are very different. I had a 68 year old lady next to me that hadn't missed a steeler home game since '63. The place was nuts, the show is amazing and it's pretty easy to get tickets to NFL experience and I was lucky enough to sit by a generous man who gave me VIP tickets to the NFL After Party.

A or B. The Super Bowl is not a regular season game; the rules of regular season games do not apply. Get yourself to the game. If some Browns fan has trouble getting there, well BOO FUCKING HOO. You're 49? His team will have trouble getting there UNTIL YOU'RE DEAD.

Go to the  ing Super Bowl.
