Raven's injuries

Postby thesteelhammer » Sun Jan 11, 2009 11:35 pm

Baltimore Ravens FB Le'Ron McClain returned to action against the Tennessee Titans, but quickly left the game again while limping severely.

Baltimore Ravens DE Terrell Suggs left the team's game against the Baltimore Ravens with an undisclosed injury.

Baltimore Ravens CB Samari Rolle suffered a groin injury Saturday. After being looked at on the field by team trainers, he was able to slowly walk off under his own power.

Their inactives against the Titans were:
LB Antwan Barnes, OT David Hale, CB Evan Oglesby, RB Jalen Parmele, OL Oniel Cousins, LB Robert McCune, WR Terrance Copper, QB Todd Bouman

the ravens are banged up after that titans game, and right now the steelers are the healthiest team in the nfl, also leaving the SD game without any injuries. I like our chances against the ravens now more than any previous meeting vs them.

I saw B. Scott and R. McClain get hurt, but both came back in. That being said, they are battered and bruised for sure! The #2 seed was a blessing, the Ravens and Titans game was a war of attrition.

Plus the fact that they had thier bye week in week #2 ( I think because of the hurricane in houston ? ) which means they've been playing like 17 weeks straight with no break, and playing some tough ball the last half is in our favor too.

Right tackle Willie Anderson went to the sideline with a stinger on the first play of the Ravens' third possession, but returned a drive later.

Word on the street is that Suggs has a shoulder sprain, but will play. Those sprains hurt badly, and you can bet he won't be 100%.

Rolle tore up his groin bad..I doubt he will play. He could take the needle, but i doubt it

McClain's ankle will be less than 100%, but that guy is not a cutter, he just moves forward, so i guess he would play too.

My biggest worry is then Ray Rice. This kid can do it all.

The Baltimore Sun reports Baltimore Ravens LB Terrell Suggs said he will play in the AFC Championship game against the Steelers despite injuring his shoulder during the Raven's Divisional Round playoff game. "Check my track record. I don't miss games," Suggs said. "The only way I wouldn't be there is if I didn't have air in my lungs."

that will be finished when he gets hit by a blocker, namely ward
James Harrison sacked Phillip Rivers and Chuck Norris popped out of the explosion

Doesn't sound like they are so sure about Suggs today.

Ken Murray, of The Baltimore Sun, reports Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said DL Terrell Suggs (shoulder) had an MRI exam Monday, Jan. 12, and suggested Suggs' availability for the AFC Championship game would "be close." Harbaugh added, "I'm not going to sit here and say it's positive, or we're happy about it. We'll just see how it goes. It's going to be close. He's going to work real hard to try to get back. That's all we know."

Could this be Patriot like shinanigans?

It could be...but i think if Suggs was as big and as tough as he lets on he would have gone back in the game vs the Titans...The would have to have put Silverback in a cage for him not to get back out there.

I wouldn't read too much into the guys not practicing. They haven't had a bye week since Week 2 of the regular season. These guys have to be playing on emotion and adrenaline right now. That takes it out of you after a while and a lot of those guys aren't exactly spring chickens besides.

Probably just trying to rejuvenate the old juices.

I wouldn't read too much into it either. For some of the guys on that list at least. Older guys like Ray Lewis and Rolle and Derrick Mason (who's been playing with a broken shoulder for weeks now). They can use the rest much more than the practice. Especially after their long streak without a week off and that brutal game against the Titans.
For some of the guys I would say it is telling. McClain's ankle is hurting him. He tried to come back into the game last weekend and he hurt himself worse. He may be a straight ahead runner, as one poster pointed out, but he isn't going to push too many piles with that bad ankle. Perhaps more than that, he is going to be hampered when he catches the ball out of the back field on little dumps, trying to accelerate away from tacklers. The point is, McClain is banged up and they are going to have to rely on Magehee, who's not scary, and Ray Rice perhaps? I'm a Jersey boy and long suffering supporter of Rutgers football, but I don't think Ray Rice is going to have the same ability to surprise teams that Darren Sproles had or even like Willie had early in his career.
Someone else pointed out that Suggs didn't come back into the game last week. I think that is significant. If he could have played I believe he would have. A week of rest may help but I agree that he is not going to be 100%. If the going gets rough for him early in the game this week, that shoulder might really start hurting and he might find the sideline again.
Every one of the players is going to try to go - it's the AFCCG - but whether or not they are effective is a different thing. And whether or not a rookie coach will bench a guy like Suggs if he struggles is another thing too.

+1 Except McLovin would actually prefer not to chance another shifty scatback like Ray Rice (see Darren Sproles) turning in a big run the way slow fat backs McLain and McGAYhee have been doing to teams of late. Suggs injury is significant as McLovin sees him as Ravens only consistent pass rushing threat. Harbaugh a rookie but he's proven to be an astute coach and will not leave ineffective players in the game that decides who goes to the Super Bowl. Only Raven player that worries McLovin is Ed Reed. The guy is the ultimate game changer and Ben not exactly known for not throwing stupid picks.

Ignore all this subterfuge. 22 guys wearing Ravens uniforms will take the field looking for blood. It doesn't matter who they are. They must be taken seriously and slayed.

I'm sure a few of those Raven injuries will be dramatized...in anticipation of their upcoming loss this weekend.

I just posted this on another thread - tell me if it makes sense here...

With all the media face time RayRay and Co. are garnering and all the "I ain't sayin', but I'm just sayin'" by the Ratbirds regarding their injuries, there's three things happening here...

1> The Ravens are running at the mouth and feeding the media hype engine, so they're just being the Ravens. They're even more shrill when their attempts to intimidate don't work...
2> They're trying to lull us into thinking they're banged up worse than they really are...
3> Their laying a good excuse foundation for after Sunday so it will be easier for them to divert blame to something else than just being totally dominated by a superior team...

OUR superior team...

Did anybody else catch the report that Lewis is now blaming the other 2 losses this year on the officiating?!?!
That will be a really useful excuse for all his boo-hooing Monday Morning once his season is over...

Blowout, shutout, complete domination - that's all the Ravens deserve from this game, and it's what I really, really hope for!!!

:subngtowl: HERE WE GO, STEELERS, HERE WE GO!!! :subngtowl:
Wha make you tink I won cutchu, mang?!?

McLovin wrote in another thread this morning that Gay Ray was interviewed by Fat Sapp on the NFL network 2 days ago blaming the refs for the Holmes touchdown. It was all he could do not to use the F bomb repeatedly saying freakin. The guy is a true vulgarian and a thug of the highest order. It bares repeating 3 straight wins and a trip to the Super Bowl will be the "knife" in Ray's heart!
