Cowher not bitter towards Steelers
Not that he should be, but he isn't.
They didn't have a bad break up, but there were some comments here and there where it looked like Ben was blaming Cowher for a few things. And Cowher mailing it in for the 2006 season, since he knew he wasn't coming back, probably didn't sit well with the team.
But all that being said, it is obvious he still has an affinity for the black and gold. Why?
1. He didn't take, or even consider, the Brown's job. And it was for a boat load of $. I just think he cares too much about his memory of being the Steelers coach, as well as growing up a Steelers fan, to wear the ugly Browns' colors.
2. When you watch/listen to him on CBS, his black and gold blood comes out in his comments. It's obvious he still feels like he is a part of that team, even in his absence. When someone took Balt. to beat Pgh this week, he passionately shook his head and said, "No way. Balt. can't live on adrenaline forever" meaning he thinks Pgh is gonna take it to them.

A couple times I saw the Chin come out when talking about the Steelers. You know he still feels apart.
Re: Cowher not bitter towards Steelers
Cowhard is a greedy buttfuck. He doesn't want the Clev job because:
a. He knows it would be a difficult rebuilding job and he'd get pummeled by the Stillers each year
b. He's rich, fat, and lazy with his cushy TV job
Fuck Bill "The Mailman" Cowhard. Sunuvabitch threatened to jump to Cleve. way back in March 1998 and has aways been a 2-faced judas. Fuck him.

When you say he's "fat" I trust you mean figuratively, not literally. Because, truth be told, he has got more trim than I have ever seen him in his years since not being a coach. He was never fat to begin with, you he really has got very trim for his TV gig.
And, while I am pleased as punch he is no longer our couch, I still have some place in my heart for him in a nostalgic way, and don't pack the hatred that you seem to hold towards him judging by the words above.
And trust me, he may be doing "OK" with the TV gig, but he ain't pulling down $10 million a year, which he would at his next gig. There is a huge difference in that jack.

Dude, are you checking out Cowher?
Looking Trim?
Place in your heart?
Your "Couch"?
"Pack the hatred"?
I think Lloydrules just came out of the closet.

Re: Cowher not bitter towards Steelers
I have to agree somewhat with Mill on this one, but I think he doesn't want to coach because he doesn't want to stain what may be a Hall of Fame carrer.
And he has already wore those putrid colors before; poop (Brown) and puke (Orange)! I don't think that matters to him.

Re: Cowher not bitter towards Steelers
Cowher still has a Steelers slant but most in the booth do for the team they played/coached.
Plus he hits the nail on the head when he speaks of the defense and the way Tomlin has them prepared.
I also agree the Browns job was not a good fit for Cowher. Plus I also wonder if he would coach in the division. Having to play Pgh and Balt twice each year is not an easy gig.
If he comes back it will be for a team that only needs a few pieces of puzzle to be a top notch team not a reclamation project like the Browns or Lions.

I agree with everything here except that the Browns are necessarily a total reclamation project. A major attitude change could have them with a winning record. Look at the turn arounds my ATL and Miami. The right coach, and corresponding GM, with a few personnel moves could have CLE winning. They have several corner stones in place.
1. They know who their QB is. That clears up chemistry immediately. Not having the ONE guy makes it tougher to achieve team chemistry. Look how it cleared up ATL and Miami; once they knew who their QBs were, it is a starting point. Each man knows whats what. Brady Quinn will be their guy. Now, will he prove to be a legit, franchise type QB? Don't know. But at least they know who their leader is, for now.
2. Solid O-line. This is key. They have it already.
3. Middle piece of D. Sean Rogers is a force.
4. Play makers. Edwards went backwards but he could come out of it. K2 is a player. Need to find a back. But it's not like starting from scratch.
They need to find some LBs, and DBs, but they could.

Living in Atlanta, McLovin has witnessed first hand how quickly a team can turn it around and the incredible job that Thomas Dimitrov and Mike Smith did with the Falcons who had a lot more problems than just subpar personel. Vick a dog killer and they had coach quit after less than a year on the job. Dimitrov acted quickly to cut Vick loyalists and replinish the roster with Michael Turner and a great draft led by Matt Ryan the Anti-Vick.
Cowher entered his first year as Steelers coach without such problems as those in Atlanta, but he did have to replace a legend in Chuck Noll no easy task. Cowher would have had his dream situation with a team LIKE the Browns. He would ride into town a hero easily replacing a series of stiffs dating back even further than Butch Davis. He would be given total control over personel moves and of course been the highest paid coach in the NFL. Maybe Cowher is in fact being true to his word and waiting for his daughter to graduate high school. It's kind of a boring excuse and gives people nothing to talk about but McLovin admires him for that.

Or maybe he knew that, like his last year here, his heart just wasn't in it.
After a few years of all the power you describe above and nothing remarkable to show for it, he would have been exposed as the all-spit half-wit we came to know and tolerate in the regular season and despise in the playoffs.
People on this board keep "Cowher"ing in the corner about how we've lost four of the last five home AFCCG's that we've been in, and that "we need to be cautious with the Ravens...". I guess that y'all would like us to "play not to lose"...
Well,
FUCK THAT!!!
All of those home AFCCG losses came under Cowher, and it was THE TEAM that won XL IN SPITE of him!
This AIN'T THE SAME TEAM
This AIN'T THE SAME COACH
This AIN'T THE SAME NFL
WE'RE GONNA KICK THE LIVING FUCKING SHIT OUTTA THE RAT-BIRDS ON SUNDAY, BANK ON IT!!
And Cowher will continue to have no choice but to admire The Steelers' success from afar.
The time is fast approaching that he won't any longer be able to even try to take some credit for it, and that's got to trouble him...
Wha make you tink I won cutchu, mang?!?

I agree with McLovin -- I think the main thing keeping Cowher in the TV booth one more year is his daughter's graduation. Think he would consider the Brownie job if it came open next year instead of this year.
I've never been as hard on Bill as StillMill has over the years, but some of the knocks against him are very legit.
My anti-Cowher summary:
-- too much turtling in big games
-- too much Marty-ball
-- "field goal Bill"
-- his record in home AFC title games speaks for its own self
-- his vaco-ride in the 2006 season
My pro-Cowher summary:
-- Super Bowl XL, damn it
-- during the Cowher era, no team in the NFL won more games than our Stillers.
-- his constant emphasis on physicality
-- even though he lost some very big games, the fact is that he also won a ton of games without having a great QB until he got Ben. Hell, maybe turtling and playing Marty ball is ok if all you have are versions of Cliff Stoudt under center. Kordell, Maddox, ODonnell, Tomczak.....give me a break. Not many coaches are consistent winners without a franchise QB.
So, adding all of that together, I think it nets out as pro-Cowher. Not among the best coaches of all time, but on balance, I give him very good marks for his tenure with the B&G.
