Things That Bothered You During the Game

Postby No l Gravity l » Sun Jan 11, 2009 10:53 pm

4. Limas Sweed- :dunce: I seriously hope this guy steps it up...
3. Polamalu- seriously had one of his worst games of the season. Seemed very lackadaisical out there. Guessed wrong on the opening TD, took forever trying to get to the Rivers on a blitz, and missed an easy tackle on 3rd down that resulted in a TD early in the 4th.
2. Carey Davis- Every time they throw the ball to this guy it's a wasted a play. He's either a yard or two short or he screws the play up all together by missing his assignment. The guy is slow as shit too. I guess better off dumping it to him than Ben forcing a pass though.
1. Secondary- Ike Taylor got burned all over the field today. Every time the Ravens hinted at running the ball, everyone bit. There were several times during the game when either Gates or Chambers had no one within 10 yards of them.

the team looked rusty coming into the game but luckily shaked it off.

carey davis, yeah he blows
sweed i won't call a bust yet, but come on, show at least a sign of promise
taylor wasn't all that bad, he busted up a few pass plays. the TD he gave up he was step for step with the wr, but it was perfect toss by rivers, near impossible to defend those.
i'd like to see more plays run out of the I formation
anyone think mchugh > davis?

heard on the post game show troy has some kind of gastrointestinal problem. didn't come out for pregame intros, was in the lockerroom being sick. amazing to see him make it on the field as sick as they made him sound to be.

There were a coule times Hines seemed to be bothered by sickness too. He was missing for a while and was bent over in the huddle on a couple of occasions.

..Reminds me a LOT of Nate-Nate in his earlier years...

and look how he's turning out!

I have a feeling Nate is playing his last days as a Steeler, given the impending FA market for a WR from a SB winner...;-)
and I think Limas might be able to pull it together at just the right time for next season.

Oh, and the thing that really bothered me...
That RIDICULOUS fake punt attempt - that really could have screwed us against another team.

...But then again, I thought Ben's pooch punt made up for it, so it ends up a draw...

I actually liked that call. The problem was one piss poor block in the middle (can't recall who screwed up). Otherwise we would have converted. Plus, it shows me that Tomlin is no Cowher. He's willing to roll the dice now and then. And, with our defense he can afford to!

#1 - the fake punt attempt. One of the most idiotic play calls from a steeler coach in a VERY long time

#2 - Going for it on 4th and goal. A FG put SD back by 2 -TD's and a 2 pt conversion. Instead we kept them in the game when we could have put the dagger in.

Either one of those play calls could have cost us the game. The fake punt was just stupid on so many levels. We gave up the battle of field position. Given how bad our offense is, that's huge. Not taking the 3 points when 3 points would have essentially put the game out of reach was just in excusable. The fact that Tomlin would make two moves that bad in a playoff game scares the ### out of me.

Don't get me wrong - I actually liked the call, too...
but the dude that made the stop actually showed he was going to blow up the middle way before the snap, and we should have audibled out of it...

I don't think it was a piss poor block, just that after assignments were covered, there was nobody left to block him.

I do like that Tomlin is becoming the anti-Cowher as far as post-season creativity is concerned. Just a little more seasoning and hopefully he'll start coaching necessary on-the-fly reads and adjustments instead of plunging headlong into a play that's doomed to failure.

That will make him a devastating coach of a devastating team!

My concern is clear for me. That opening drive. Thinking back to all season long on how the offense sputtered all season.. seeing that defense in that opening drive had me pissing in my pants. Good thing it was only 2 min in the game and that we actually have a coaching staff that learns how to adjust. The offense REALLY put on a show, and I didn't think nothing less coming in by the way this unit handled SD's Defense in the last game.

The defense gave up a lot of yards and points in the 4th.

The thing that bothered me the most was the fact that Carey Davis had a Steeler uniform on.

That pass and catch were both things of beauty. The pass was dead on, and it was an incredible catch. Ike's arm was actually in there to make the strip. Not sure how he didn't strip it. But I agree, he did just about everything right on that play.

McLovin agrees with almost all of these bothersome things. The Troy illness not being reported bothers McLovin in that as a Journalism student at the ever-prestigious Edinboro U has McLovin jealous of such lucky bastards as Duquesne's own John Clayton et al who have the coolest jobs around but yet had no pre-game info about Troy's illness. Good reporting jerkoffs! At least Easy Ed Werder got a plow full of snow during his lame ass pre-game report. Hopefully Troy's bowels are all better by next week. It's a good sign that Steelers held off a good passing team like the Chargers with Troy hampered by a shat problem

From what I understand and saw, they Bolts had a block on and the guy that shot the gap and made the tackle would normally have been picked up and blocked by Clark. I think the call was made as Tomlin had the utmost confidence in the defense.

The fake punt is a great call for one reason and one reason only.

The ravens now have to spend 5 to 10 extra minutes a day gameplanning for punt formations and tendencies.

just like running a reverse in preseason against a team you will play in the regular season. taking away from normal practice routine and adding time to other things helps Pittsburgh.

1/2 empty stadium in a home playoff game before the final whistle blows is absolutely nothing but disrepectful in many ways. Living in San Diego I was completely pissed fans have no idea how fortunate they are to experience an incredible home victory like that and would love to see them ALL stick around and cheer the black & gold walk off the field and show the CHARGERS what real fans are.
