Arians on the running game
http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/9014 ... on-passing
"It's different in Pittsburgh because people believe that if you run it 30 times, you win. Well, OK, let's go kneel down three times and we'll win," Arians said Wednesday. "But while I've been here, we didn't win any Super Bowls that way. I know how we won it, and No. 7 (Ben Roethlisberger) won it for us, offensively (in the 2005 season)."
What a fuckin..what a...
"I was in all those game plan meetings, and none of which was to run the ball, or we wouldn't have won the Super Bowl," said Arians, the wide receivers coach from 2004-06. "We were out to score points and get them as fast as we could and then see if we could run it. And we didn't run it very good at Denver, and we didn't run it very well in Indianapolis, but we threw it real good, and we scored a lot of points. When it's all said and done, that's still the game."
So, running the ball was not in any of the the game plans on the way to the Super Bowl. Wha?
That's it. I gave him some slack but I am now officially on the Bruce Arians has to go bandwagon.

He needs to go back and watch those tapes again.
The Bus was a factor in those wins and Ben played poorly in the Super Bowl.
The difference between those two teams is the O-line has decayed since SB XL

Losing Jeff Hartings and Faneca was killer. I think Hartwig is doing all right but Chris K. wiffs on all kinds of assignments. We really need to draft some talent at O-line this year, and go back to using a two-back backfield. Arians has been 'fixing what ain't broke' all season long.

Re: Arians on the running game
Yeah, And Ben was sitting in the pocket for 6 seconds a play and getting sacked 46 times a year and we couldn't run the ball in 2005 also right. What happened to the quick hits Ben made a living off of in his rookie year?
I know it is because we have such a dominate Offensive Line and our QB makes great decisions and has been the main reason we are 12 - 4 and the number 2 seed.
If we go back to the quick hits a little and keep the D honest and Ben can build confidence we can go deep. We can not expect this Line to give him more than 2.5 seconds or block well enough against a Defense that has it's ears pinned back coming full force because they know we can't run the ball nor pass protect.
Mark my words if we do not get the ball out of Ben's hand quickly he is going to spend a lot of time on his back if not in an ambulance.

Re: Arians on the running game
Arians is right.
Those victories, at least leading up the Super Bowl, were due to the fact that the Steelers came out throwing rather than running. And this also meant we used Heath Miller in the offense as well.
I hope we do throw the ball more - much more, especially on first down, but the types of pass plays need to be quick hitters to get us 4 or 5 yards on first down. It's what Patriots do instead of running on first down and it seems to work pretty well.
I still think Arians is a terrible OC, but he's right on the mark with this one.

Different offensive coordinator.
Whenever Tom Brady loses, it's always someone else's fault.

Yeah, but then we could throw the ball.... at least to a player wearing the same color jersey.
Don't you mean that you hope we are ABLE to throw more?
Arians is an IDIOT and if you think he is right on the mark you are an idiot
We were able to come out throwing then because everyone wa used to us running and we could run the ball. We are still trying to run on 1st down but everyone knows we can not run behind this dominating line we have. The problem is also we can not throw behind them either .
Re: Arians on the running game
Wow... this guy is such an assclown.
What he doesn't understand is those team were a *threat* to run because they'd done it all year.
The were a much more balanced team... but they also had an offensive coordinator that knew how to keep defenses off balance by mixing up his calls, something Arians hasn't been able to grasp in 2 years running the offense.
I hope this fuckwad keeps opening his mouth in the papers because the more he says, the stupider he looks.

Controlling the clock is very important to winning most games.
You can't control the clock if you can't run the ball.
I'm confident that, as long as Parker is taking most of the carries, the run game is going to suffer.
Oh yeah... Arians is a jackass.
