Running Behind a Fullback
Did anyone notice that Parker was given a fullback to run behind on Sunday? Do you think it was directly responsible for the 100+ yards he posted or was it just the Browns' run defense? Curious what others saw...

Agree, a little of both. I don't think the Browns mailed it in. Just that their run defense has been horrible all year.
Good to see us get some yards. However, it will be tough sledding in the playoffs. Miami or Indy may be the worst run defenses in the AFC playoffs and they are not shabby.

I do think it helped
Arians is a pea brain
Most of the great RB's have a lead blocker - how MANY times did the Bus praise his 'bus driver'? Look at LT. Lorenze Neal led him for years.
I hope BA is fired the second we lose in the playoffs. He has as much creativity as I do in my pinky fingernail.
Willies wants and needs a FB - this will help with play action and openig up other crap down field. I am SO FIT TO BE TIED to watch this great defense go to waste do to the offense.

Hopefully that was a warm up to the playoffs. Steelers will increase their chances if they come out in two weeks with a blocking FB. I think Arians was finallly giving in - stubborn fool could have costed us a season with that single back shit.

If I recall correctly, the majority of Willie's yards came around the corner and not behind a fullback.
Willie is notorious for having big games against bad run defenses and even then, he doesn't do THAT well. The 'homerun' runs really pad otherwise atrocious stats.
I'm just sayin'.

Re: Running Behind a Fullback
I think that maybe it is a combination of many things including the inability of the O-Line to block anyone, the tenativeness of FWP, and a confidence thing which I think with that 34 yd TD may have gone away some. But with a FB or not if the O-Line doesn't block a FB can't block 7 guys. I like using a FB expecially if we could find one that could catch the rock. If we get a strong O-Line it will be hard for even Arians to stop us. But even if the team made that their number 1 priority it would not happen in 1 off season so it will be a 2 - 3 year process. We just have to run plays that don't take 3 minutes to develop and Ben needs to make quicker decisions. My thought would be to have Moore play a lot more in the 1st half and let FWP hurt the D in the later part of the game when they are tired and will have a hard time dealing with his speed. He gets the majority of his yards late anyway so let Moore soften up the D early.

It would've made more sense to have drafted Owen Schmitt than Bruce Davis, but hindsight is always 20/20.

Why not just bring Kreider back while you're at it?

I dont know if anybody saw the hilights, but Michael Bush playing for the Raiders looked like a young Jerome Bettis. Big back punishing the defense. He walked all over the Bucs. He broke his leg his senior year at UL and was a 4th round pick. I get the sneaking feeling the Raiders got a sweet deal there. Wish the Stillers would have taken a chance on him. Damn I would love to see a big punishing back in Black and Gold again.
