Idea for extra advantage at home games
I have an idea for a little extra advantage at home games.
It would take alot of coordination and cooperation but:
I want some fans to hand out big yellow posterboards to every Steelers fan behind the goal posts. When the opposing kicker tries for a field goal everyone holds up their poster boards so that he can't see the goal posts!
I know this would only work in the closed endzone but if we do end up with home-field throughout the playoffs, this could work pretty great! Especially on longer kicks and overtime scenarios! I don't see how this wouldn't be allowed as posterboards are definately permitted in the stadium, even if we have to write 'Go Steelers' or something on each of them so they're legal.
I'm not a season ticket holder! Someone should follow through with this! Best fans in NFL!

Interesting idea.
I have never heard a kicker say how distracting the fans are behind the goal post.
I would imagine the sea of terrible towels would be distracting.

That, sir... Is sheer awesomeness.

Or we could all get lazer pointers and shine it in the kicker's eyes. It's just as ridiculous. I would rather lose a game than to resort to such tactics. Just go and yell for your team and may the best team win. If you want to cheat to win, go to New England.

Not cheating buster, posters are allowed, laser pointers aren't. Dont' ever compare that to New England either, I'm not recording pre-game or playing with helmet transmissions, you don't like the idea then stfu.

I'm on your side, S_S.
I guess Mr. Bomberman has never seen what goes on behind the goal at basketball games... usually in the playoffs.
I think the yellow posterboard idea is GENIUS. I just think it'd be hard to pull-off. Time to try our best to get this into the local media and see if we can bring it to fruit.

Do the kickers actually look at the goalposts when they're kicking? I thought they just looked at the hashmarks. It would be important for the kicker to actually watch the ball as he's kicking it.

They always line up, look at the posts and get an idea whether they want to kick it left or right, and most importantly how hard. I bet if this ever was to happen it would surprise the hell out of everyone on that field, it HAS to fuck with the kicker's head at very least. They would put that video on ESPN, start a league-wide trend.
Another idea: make the other side of the posters black, so when Reed has to kick, he can see better.

might work if nfl kickers were replaced by high school kickers I guess....why don't we all yell NOONAN right as he lines up the putt....er, um, I mean the kick....or maybe all get completely silent....except for one guy who yells JAGOFF!!! right as the kicker kicks....or we hold up a sign behind the goal post that says this

It may backfire. It may in fact give the kicker a big target to aim for.

Good point.
I personally would like to see it happen for the hilarity that would ensue rather than wanting to try to test it's effectiveness in hampering the opposing team's kicking game.
