Arians Delay Draw

Postby indysteel » Sun Dec 21, 2008 5:52 pm

Out of curiosity, can anyone give me a logical explanation why Arians seems so fucking fascinated with the delay draw every game? Also, is it me or does it seem like BR7 and the RB act like they've never even practiced it?

I just don't get it. I think we ran it four times or more today. WTF?

I think arians is so stupid he believes if you run an ineffective play over and over, one of them will break. This guy is a joke.

Two of those plays to Parker appeared to be blown up in the back field because of a blitz. W/o a blitz we would have Willie juking a hard charging defensive end, and our OT at their linebackers. Those plays are good (particularly vs a 4 man rush) unless the defense recognizes it or is sending a blitz. Moore has made some good runs on similar plays this season.

and that's the issue. willie = negative yards, moore = gain

willie's too busy going 'ohh i don't have a lead blocker' and either running into the wall because he lacks the vision to see any creases, or giving up on the play while he's 4 yards behind the line of scrimmage, resulting in a 5 yard loss

Do you guys know that several times, Ben AUDIBLED into that play.

Before we jump all over Arians for how many times they were called?

Jeemie:

BR7 or Arians...it don't matter. Why are they calling it.

Better yet....how about executing and not looking like you just drew the damn thing up in the dirt.

Pretty basic play even at the HS level. You'd think by now they'd been a bit more efficient at running it than they are.

Wait...

Are we talkin' about that play with the Ben pump-fake-like-I'm-makin'-a-layup delayed draw?

I hate that play. Really I do. Seems like it comes out every 6-8 plays. I'd really like to watch a game or two over and see how many times they run it.

Maybe not. I'unno.

Not a fan of a draw unless you're pickin' defenses apart in the air. That is something they haven't been doing lately.

"In closing"... *sarcastic grin*

If your team isn't passing well, there's NO reason to be running a draw. Real Life 1 | Bruce Arians (-1)

I'm just sayin'.

The delayed draw only works if you block somebody.

When you have both DE's in the backfield it takes the punch away.

Plus if we ever ran a play like Tennessee did on 4th-1 we would have the same results. Teams over commit to our run up the middle and we do nothing to keep them on their heels. Oh well, let the playoffs begin.

it worked alot earlier in the season, now team see it over and over on film and are prepared for it.what bothers me after it got stuffed 2x they still kept using it.

Looks to me like bens been audibleing into it alot also.

I also think ben audibles into alot of the run plays that are getting stuffed, I think he does it just to keep parker and the line happy to be honest because it seems everytime he audibles to a delayed handoff or sweep it goes for a loss.

I also agree with whoever said it looks like they've never practiced it. On one of those stupid draws (I think the one Ben audibled to) FWP and Ben stopped for like a second and looked at eachother like "now what do we do? do I go here, or do you come to me?" redonkulous

When we run this idiotic play that takes about 5 seconds to develop, its cool, basically just another big loss of a play, DRIVE, MOMENTUM KILLER, and anything else to add to the frustration of how retarded BRUCE IS. FUCK THAT GUY, someone please kidnap him and torture him for taking at least 5 years off of each and everyones life that call themselves STILLER FANS.
Dynasty in the making..........

We have the pieces to the puzzle.
