THROW A CHANGE UP BRUCE!!!
PLEASE SHOW ME SOMETHING DIFFERENT IN THE PLAYOFFS...YOU UNIMAGINATIVE TWIT.
ex: HOW ABOUT STARTING MOORE FOR STARTERS
PASS RUSH GETTING AT BEN TOO OFTEN...RUN THE SCREEN PASS
HERE'S SOMETHING I HAVEN'T HEARD YET...USE FWP TO RETURN KICKOFFS, IF HE BREAKS ONE TACKLE, HE..COULD..GO...ALL..THE..WAY.
BRING BACK THE SHORT PASSING GAME TO HEATH OR WHOEVER. THIS MIGHT HELP THE RUNNING GAME.
IN THE RIGHT SITUATION...RUN THAT HALF BACK PASS IN THE RED ZONE MAYBE..COULDN'T BE ANY WORSE OF A RED ZONE CALL THAT WE ALREADY USE.
USE A F'IN FULLBACK ONCE IN A WHILE...RUN SOME PLAY ACTION OFF OF IT, THE FACT THAT WE DON'T EVER USE ONE MIGHT FOOL THE DEFENSE TO THINK IT'S A RUNNING PLAY.

Re: THROW A CHANGE UP BRUCE!!!
I thought Arians did better yesterday? We could have won that game if it weren't for the turnovers. He used different plays than previous and seemed to openthe offense up a little more. And this is when it wan't 'no-huddle' time.
Titans simply got the better of us, this time.

Re: THROW A CHANGE UP BRUCE!!!
They could have had a shot to win yesterday if they'd give up the BS "Steeler Tradition" running garbage! When they get a 1st and goal at the 4 like they did in the 1st quarter, they should never resort to that MACHO GARBAGE of trying to bull it in to PROVE MANHOOD!
Just lineup spread formation, 4 wide and PASS THE DAMN BALL!!! It's a stronger part of their offense and when you're 4 yards from paydirt, you don't go with your weakness, go with your strength, Ben and the pass game.
And why not play no-huddle WAY MORE or even THE ENTIRE GAME? It's more effective for them. And I know that BS, RETARD Steeler "traditionalists" are bothered by it, but TRUTH IS they should be "that kind of team", the kind that lines up spread formation and goes no-huddle 90% of the time and gets most of their offense from PASSING.
I know this is all blasphemy to the MORONS who are the majority in Steeler Nation, but that's just the way IT SHOULD BE. You didn't pay Ben $108 million to hand off 60% of the time.
If they would follow this formula, the run would open up because they'd be back on their heels not expecting it much. Especially at the goal line at least, get away from trying to "POWER IT IN", just face facts...you CAN'T power it in, that's not your strength...Call plays that give you a REAL CHANCE for SEVEN! Don't put yourself constantly in a 3rd and goal from the 8 after 2 failed runs? Why? That's just STUPID.

I gots to agree with Nick here.
No-huddle.
Less run.
More pass.
It works.

You haven't heard this because it's a completely stupid idea.
Think Ricardo Colclough and rookie Santonio. The dude canNOT catch the ball.
Sorry dude... One of those things that sounds good or looks good on paper, but at the end of the day, would most likely NEVER work.

Re: THROW A CHANGE UP BRUCE!!!
i like the way you think nick79....call bruce....do you think he ever gets curious and actually looks at what the fans have to say....i doubt it...but there are a lot of knowledgable fans who noticed that our philosophy needs to change...maybe we can get back to it next year with the return of mendy and some key draft or free agent picks concerning the o line.

That's what I'm saying, every single time they have parker in the game, they try to be something they're not by powering the football. Face it willie, you're not jerome bettis, and this line isn't a squad built for power running.
We have at least a chance to move the ball with the passing game, and when Moore is in there, we seem to play to our strengths a lot better. The whole staff trying to make willie happy by attempting 'steeler football' is killing our offensive production.

I particularly liked when Nick79 called the majority of us "MORONS". Way to endear yourself to the board, Nick. Welcome.

Nicks been here patrolling this board for 8-9 years now. Welcome yourself noob.
BTW - Was I the only one getting sick and tired of the bullshit slow developing draw play that got FWP dropped time and time again?
I mean seriously...

whoa. sorry. guess I thought he joined in May, like it says under his icon. Regardless, calling the Majority of Steeler Nation "Morons" on a Steelers board is a stupid comment. If I knew what a "noob" was, I'd respond to your comment, as well.

Re: THROW A CHANGE UP BRUCE!!!
Someone mentioned Arians was calling better plays. Yes and no on that end.
He did try some different stuff but what worked he never went back to (no huddle) and what got stuffed (delayed draws) he fell in love with.
Our offense is like a bad MLB pitcher. When you tip your pitches you get hit hard. This is what our offense does all of the time. Not sure if all of this is Arians, Ben, QB coach, etc or all of the above. Let me know what you think.
1. Arians ran one play of no huddle short of the last drive of the game. What happened? It yielded Tennessee getting caught in the wrong defense and a TD. On that play every receiver was open. So of course we do not run anohter play of no huddle the rest of the game. We should run 10-15 plays of no huddle every game.
2. Do we ever snap the ball with more than 2 seconds on the game clock. Talk about giving the other teams defense a free run at the line of scrimmage. If we would snap the ball with 6-8 seconds left then have Ben use a hard count we would get a couple of offsides penalties per game. No that would make too much sense.
3. Can we be more predicatable in the shot gun for when the ball is going to be snapped? No only do we let the clock run down butit always goes something like this. Ben lifts his foot and sets it down once. Then he does it again. One second later Hartings snaps the ball. If a defense can not anticipate the snap they are idiots. When I can see this at home you know every defensive coach in the league has it figured out.
4. We run Willlie inside 80% of the time. Run a play that gets him to the edge and turn the corner. Willie is not 100% and maybe he has lost something. However, even Bettis would not get yardage with has often as we have defenders in our backfield.
Just my ramblings but come on Bruce. I also would question why we should not fire the O-line coaches as well. Even if you are not the best line. Atleast have an edge and we don't have one.

Hagerstown, I agree. Especially on two points. One, the snapping the ball with 1-2 seconds left on the play clock is ridiculous. Two, what's with the OL coaching? I know, I know, we don't have Faneca or Hartings, or fucking Dawson for that matter. There is still no reason on God's green earth why a Defensive Lineman should go UNTOUCHED past an OL who's not blocking anybody (which I saw at least twice against the Titans). Learn your fucking assignments and get it together!

Isfry;
I know we don't have the greatest line. However, we do not have the worst in the league either by a long shot. It looks like we try to finese block guys too often. On a run play just line up and hit someone. I can understand someone coming free if you are manned up with someone else.
However, we when have two guys looking at each other while to defenders go untouched into the back field. This is embarrasing.

Re: THROW A CHANGE UP BRUCE!!!
Throw a change up? Who's going to get fooled? Pitts offense can barely handle moving the ball, and now they are going to fool someone?
The Steelers offense has to be operating the way it is for a reason, and my guess is it's because the offensive guards are weak at defensive recognition. Snapping the ball with 1 second left encourages the defense to show its hand, and enables our guys to not have to read the field. Sure it sucks for the Qb, but for 100mil he is going to have to make it work. A lot of teams employ this system, I don't know why, but this is my guess. PLUS it insures that the Steelers o-line does not jump off sides. With an inability to gain even 1 yard sometimes, you don't want to make it more by trying to sneak 5 on a penalty.
No huddle you say? Ok, but getting stuffed 3n out puts the defense right back out there. Those guys need rest, too. Sure it should be done some, but not at the expense of the strength of the team. If the defense gets tired and gives up a lead then the offense is really up a creek. 2-3 drives a game seems reasonable, maybe more if the situation dictates so.
Parker does go outside sometimes, and almost everytime the defense has the edge set and he gets hit for a loss.
Some of you trout sniffers just want to bitch about what doesn't work, but you don't even appreciate the efforts made to find something that does. And what's just as bad is some are just crying cause the Steelers don't succeed, when in reality the opponent makes a great play. Did you know the two longest runs of the season against the Steelers have been on shotgun draw plays? Yeah, Kevin Faulk for 41, and Tashard Choice for 22. Did you know the Steelers ran a defense on those plays similar to the one the Titans ran probably 80+% of the time last Sunday? Rush 4 drop 7. Probably not because you are to busy whining. How about the fact that Heath Miller made 8 catches yesterday. Way to go offense!!!! Move the ball anyway you can. Especially against a tough D at their house. Pittsburgh is a defensive team, and everything they do is to ensure that its defense is given the best opportunity to make a play to give the offense momentum. Trying to make plays that aren't there is a sure way to turn it over and put the defense up against a wall. The Steelers are not an offensive juggernaut and nobody should envy trying to find plays that work against elite teams with great defenses when your o-line is getting whipped by their down lineman.

Amen, brother!!!
Remember the Eagles game, where they rushed THREE players, and ALL three players got through the line.
Seriously, you nailed the problem on the head: an O-lineman can not possibly block a DT/DE if that O-lineman does not even touch the DT/DE.
Most of this comes from communication between the linemen...which takes time...and brains. While it has gotten better (to some degree), there are still times when this O-line makes the hugest mental gaffs I have ever seen.
KEMO: I got 98.
HARTWIG: I got 98.
COLON: I got 98.
[Note: Exacerbating the problem is the fact that there is not even defender wearing number 98 on the field.]

It just looks like a lack of communication. They are missing basic assignments.
Also, wasn't Ben supposed to be calling more of the protections this year?
