Re: game ball for win vs Ratbirds
Hines ward was on a different plateau than Nate.
Drop after drop after drop, Nate was running for Mvp of the ravens.
Hines ward and the defense were the ONLY 2 consistencies in this game.
You don't get my vote just because you piss away 2 quarters then finally do something right, Ben.
In NO WAY should holmes even be MENTIONED in this, since, face it, he was leaning away so he wouldn't get hit too hard.
So, my vote's for the D.

Does anyone know why Ben spiked the ball on 1st and goal from the 5 with 55 seconds left in the game? Why would you want to waste a down that close to the goal line or give the ratbirds anytime on the clock when we scored? Again, our defense is the story this game. How good would we be if our offense wasn't completely incompetent?

Watch the second half of the deadskins game.

According to post-gazette:
Ben said he wanted to slow things down and regroup after driving the team down the field 88 yds at a frantic pace. He got the nod from Tomlin to do it.

My vote is for the defense all the way.
The 92yd drive was awesome. However, it would have been a mute point without the defense. The offense took 3pts off the board with Bens fumble and gave the Ratbirds 3 with Holmes fumble at the 10.
The offense is showing some signs of life. It would have been nice to score 24 pts against the Ravens defense but that would have been totally unexpected.

I hope both Ben and Tomlin realize that the spike was a mistake and if they want to slow things down or calm things down, then run up the middle or run a QB sneak... there was plenty of time to do that and still have the rest of your downs to play, etc...
I know its heat of the moment, but you have to play smart and clean come playoff time and hope they can learn from this.

I wouldn't compare anything we did against the Redskins, they just had it handed to them by the Bengals..........the Bengals!!!!

I vote for the D.
The O comes thru in the fourth, but where is the consistency during the whole game? We will need that in the playoffs!
The D stopped the Ravens O when we gave them the ball at the 15 yard line after a Holmes fumble, HUGE. The D knocked the Ravens out of field goal range in the fourth when it matterd the most, HUGE. The Steelers D gave up 1 or 0 Td's yet again, I don't care what offense you field, in the NFL, your D does that and you have a chance to win a lot of games.

I'd go with the D again.
On a side note i thought Timmons played his ass off yesterday. When he was given a chance he got good pressure on Faggo.

Timmons
That sack-strip taking the raisins out of FG range
The crushing hit on Mason
He was chasing Flacco all day
Very active on special teams

I went with the D, Ravens offense had looked very sharp second half of the season and they kept us in it. Kudos to BR7 on another clutch drive though!

yeah, because running up the middle would have stopped the clock...

Re: game ball for win vs Ratbirds
Actually, I would give a game ball to both Nate and Holmes...make them carry it around with them and have everyone try to take it away...fumble it and it costs $1000.00 each time. Sound familiar? At least then maybe they could hold on to a ball during the game. I realize they both had clutch catches but...that's what they get paid big $$$ to do...it's their fricking job!!! It's absolutely rediculous for a receiver in the NFL to drop a pass that hits their hands. No excuse...period! If I did my job like that, I would be fired or people would die. They need a wake up call...ring...ring...it's time to earn your money!
