NO RESPECT
As a lifelong Stillers fan, I've never been one for media attention. I could care less whether they give us respect. However, I find it odd that all week, all I've heard is..."Ray Lewis leads a Ravens defense ranked second only to the Steelers." How 'bout, "James Harrison and Troy Polamalu lead a Steelers defense ranked second to NOBODY." What's the big deal about being "number two", anyway?
Re: NO RESPECT
Another example of this, on First and 10 this morning on ESPN the all knowing idiot Skip Bayless stated that it ISN'T EVEN CLOSE who is the better player between Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu and went on to say that Reed is by far the better player. NOT EVEN CLOSE GET REAL!!
Re: NO RESPECT
If I am correct, this is how their season stats compare:
Troy- 47 tackles, 18 assists, 7 INTs (leads NFL), 1 fumble recovery, 0 TDs (because the refs botched the call at the end of the Chargers game)
Reed- 26 tackles, 3 assists, 5 INTs, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 2 TDs
How Skip Brainless can say Reed's better, let alone it's not even close, only proves the media's continued inability to recognize talent, only drama. Maybe Troy should go out and shoot somebody in a night club, just so the idiots in the MSM will start acknowledging him.

Re: NO RESPECT
oh, yeah, and NFL.com's GMC defensive players poised to be difference makers this week?
"Ed Reed, Shaun Phillips and Brian Dawkins look to make a big impact in Week 15."
whatever...

Re: NO RESPECT
No that the Steelers should need bulletin board material to get up for this weeks game but in many ways I like the lack of respect. It does provide added motivation.
Just like 2005-06 and the Super Bowl run. We got no respect and came out with a chip on our shoulder and kicked ass. The way it should be.
Our defense is nasty as it is. Get them pissed and look out.

Skip Bayless is a douche bag of the highest order.
He's also a Cryboys fan and probably still butt hurt after his precious Romo collapsed once again in a high pressure game.

I believe Skip said he would choose Reed based on the fact that Reed has scored more TD's throughout his career...the guy then asked if it would have changed his mind had the Chargers game TD been allowed and which time Skip mumbled under his breath before they went off the air.
Re: NO RESPECT

Re: NO RESPECT
WHO THE F*** TRYING TO PLAY THE DISRESPECT CARD? YOU AIN’T J-PEEZY!
THAT’S DISRESPECT!
BEST BE FIXING THAT MOUF!
YOU’VE ONLY GOTTEN ONEFOLD OF THE RETRIBUTION SO FAR! YOU AIN’T DONE YET!
Joey Porter has always been called a hothead and I do tend to talk. But I have been mellowed by the wisdom of age. Being a father has given me a lot of perspective. I try to teach my son the lessons of his father, that in this life there’s nothing more important THAN RESPECT! AND HALF-SHIRTS! YOU GOTTA HAVE THOSE! THEY SHOW OFF YOUR POPCORN MUSCLES LIKE NOTHING ELSE!
thank you KSK
Re: NO RESPECT
Well, Troy's got holes. Not gaping, but there is the occasional mistake. (please don't give me a nobody;s perfect speech)
But, he's playing out of his MIND this season. As how he was in 05 and sorta in 06. But then not at all in 07.
Which brings me to my point.
Reed's been doin his thing for a good long time. If troy had a season like 08 for the past 4 years, you bet your ass he'd always be in the running.
Now an answer you'll all like a lot more.
Ray Lewis is in the spotlight cuz of his mouth, as opposed to Harrison, who doesn't talk much, unless it's obvious (JACKSONFUCKINGVILLE!!).

Re: NO RESPECT
When healthy, Troy is probably a little better than Ed.
But, alas, the operative words are "when healthy."
In his career, how many "complete" seasons has Troy played?...with "complete" meaning playing up to his full potential.
In other words, Troy's seasons have gone as such: C, A+, A+, C, C, A+
Whereas, Ed's report card would look like this: A-, B+, A+, B, A-, B+

Re: NO RESPECT
both players are two of the best we have ever seen.
One plays strong and the other free safety, so different roles and clearly different styles.
but the media are idiots

Re: NO RESPECT
I have no problem with the possibility that Reed is a better player than Polamalu, and that some people would prefer Reed. My problem with the statement was that it is not even close. Having said that, I am done allowing anything Skip Bayless says to irritate me.
I think that Troy P is a much more versatile player, he is all over the field and although people like to say that Reed has a knack for always being around the ball, I would love to keep track just one game for how many times I see Troy getting up from the pile. It seems like almost every single play.
And there is no doubt that his injuries have been a major problem, but just like Ben holding onto the ball too long sometimes you have to take the good with the bad.
