The Pittsburgh Steelers held the Cincinnati Bengals to 208 total yards in Week 12, marking the 11th consecutive game the defense has held an opponent to under 300 yards in a game.

oh gawd! the steelers defense allowed a TD after the offense turned the ball over in the first quarter against the Patriots.

They're just not stepping up in these key moments..... :geek:

I agree with pretty much everything said, to a degree. The O is to blame for putting the D in bad spots, and the D has not rose to the challenge EVERY TIME, but they have had some good stops and bailed the O out. With all the digs at LeBeau and his play calling, I say this. Polamalu has more pics than anyone in the NFL. Harrison is on pace to break the franchise record for sacks, and he and Woodley are the most prolific sack tandem in football. We lead the league in sacks, fewest rush yards allowed, fewest pass yards allowed, fewest overall yards allowed, and fewest points allowed. TOP doesn't show everything. Sometimes you can win the TOP overall, but that doesn't show that the D was on the field for a six or seven minute drive before being sent RIGHT BACK OUT after a 3 and out or a TO. Hopefully the addition of Russell on 3rd and shorts will stop the 3 and outs. The picks are on Ben and the OL. I wouldn't trade defenses, or teams for that matter, with anyone in the league.

This isnt really hard to figure out. Check the NFL stats. 24 in total offense. The offense does well when the O-line does its job. When the O-line doesnt do its job, Ben takes risks. Risk that often fail ala the Colts interception in the 2nd quarter.

Bottom line, O-line does its job, Ben will do his job. I dont even worry about this Dfense.

I've always hated the Prevent Defense. Look at the end of the 2nd quarter of the Dallas game. The Stillers D was handling the Cowboys offense throughout the 1st half. (They gave up some yards, but no scoring drives.) So with 2 minutes to go before halftime, what do they do? They give the Cowboys their first scoring drive of the game. If they had played the way they'd been playing up until then, the halftime score would have probably been 3-0.

Fortunately, the D came through big-time at the end of the 4th quarter.

The prevent defense is only to be used if you are up by 75 points, at the end of the game, and the opponent is backed up against their goal line. Otherwise, never, ever, ever, use the prevent defense.

Ride that horse that brung ya.

On a side note, the Still hasn't allowed more than 300 total yards on offense this year.
