Lets grade others like he grades Farrior. Farrior was in on the first sack, Farrior had tackles but you won't hear that from Dipshit.
Woodley a little slow in coverage? He got smoked more than once He also got knocked on his ass by Faulk not once but twice. I like Woodley but noone can be perfect on every play. But Still will only point out Farrior. Timmons great INT but needs to get in better shape he wa totally spent and had no clue where the goal line was he went down like a feeble old lady.
Remember Porter? He is in the sack race too, but he sucks

For once, I'll agree with most or all of what has been said. We played fantastically, but the Patriots were absolutely brutal all day. Some of the allowances we made in zone coverages need to be shored up..some of the Moss and Gaffney drops were gifts.
I would give Arians credit on the 3rd down fade Ben threw that Nate dropped. He obviously learned from a similar play the Giants ran on us in a similar situation, but Amani Toomer tooled Willie Gay on that play. All told, it's a play that needs to be called more often if Nate's got single coverage out there.
I'm going to be heavily in the minority here, but I think Ryan Clark's hit was a GREAT play. It dictated physicality, something our secondary typically lacks. Slot receivers like Welker need to pay for executing the routes that they do. Plus, the ball was tipped; Clark was really flagged for leaving his feet, since the hit was not helmet to helmet. And while I do not condone injuries, Welker never returned to the game. In my opinion, the end result was more valuable than the 15-yard penalty.

Re: New Article: Stillers-Patsies Postgame Analysis and Grades
Your wrath against Farrior is well deserved. Coming off a mostly strong performance against the lowly Bungles, Farrior's weak play was even more noticeable last night.
However, don't you think Timmons would be a better replacement for Farrior instead of Foot?
Foot's job in the Steelers' scheme is to stuff running lanes, while Farrior's is geared more toward coverage. Foot has been consistent, albeit unspectacular, while Farrior has been a liability most of the season. Timmons is a good tackler who can light people up, but seems to lack the ability to blow up running lanes. (However, he hasn't had much of a chance to improve since he hasn't been on the field a whole lot.) Where Timmons has shined, however, is in coverage, especially in the flats, as evidenced by his outstanding pick last night.
Timmons' athleticism would be a vast improvement over Farrior, and seriously, any mental gaffes Timmons would make couldn't possibly be that much worse than the ones Farrior's has made. Imagine Timmons dropping back into coverage instead of Farrior on the Moss dropped TD at the end of the 1st half -- he would have been there with his speed even if he messed up the coverage.
Now, here are 3 reasons this will never happen, but we can dream can't we?:
1) Farrior is a team "leader" - it would probably piss too many other players off to see him benched
2) Farrior is making a lot of money - why bench the big investment?
3) Farrior wears the helmet with a receiver in it - changing this in mid-season could be detrimental, especially with the D playing so well as a unit. However, I think Troy could easily be the guy wearing the helmet. He's on the field all the time and is a smart player. The team should look at this as a possibility in the future.
Also, 1 more point on Timmons: You mentioned the good block by Anthony Smith on the nice Santonio punt return. How about the devastating block Timmons made from the blind side. He de-cleated that guy. I'm pretty sure it was Timmons, but I'm not positive. I tried to pause my DVR to see the number of the player who laid out the Patriot defender, but the Steeler as a total blur while everyone else was crystal clear -- now that's speed and ferocity!

Farrior is Mill's "Gildong" this year.
Last year it was Hampton...the year before, it was Porter.
Mill isn't happy unless he has a yearly "Gildong".
That said, Farrior played pretty bad yesterday.
As for coaching, the only thing I'd really get on Tomlin for is not challenging the absolutely HIDEOUS spot on that 3rd-goal run by Russell.
He may not have gotten the 1st down (I personally think he did), but it was a LOT closer than a full yard back of the ball. And may have led to a change of philosophy (going for it as opposed to kicking the FG).
Officials were absolutely PUTRID at spotting the ball yesterday, BTW.
But the idea that "benching players" for some of the dipshit penalties they take will have any effect is ludicrous. This shit happens all the time on the football field, and no dsicplinary measures will stop it.
And I liked Clark's hit- it took Welker out...it was worth the 15.

Re: New Article: Stillers-Patsies Postgame Analysis and Grades
The Steelers won that game quite handily didn't they? You wouldn't know that from this analysis.
Re: New Article: Stillers-Patsies Postgame Analysis and Grades
I tend to agree with the analysis.
Here is what we need to keep in mind:
While we won yesterday, the Pats shot themselves in the foot several times. In addition, as pointed out, despite golden FP much of the second half, we had to kick FGs when we should have been nailing the door shut.
The point is this --- WHY were the WRs so wide open? WHY did we not score TDs instead of FGs? WHY did Timmons collapse like a bitch on the INT return? WHY did Tomlin not challenge the spot?
And -- my personal favorites -- WHY does Ben CONSTANTLY underthrow WRs and WHY does CRISCO Washington CONSTANTLY drop "game changing" passes?
Despite all the jacking off over the team that will occur this week, this team is a long way off from winning the f'cking DIVISION, let alone making a deep run in the post season (assuming they get there).
We will take the win and it always feels good to slap the Pats around. However, I would not confuse this team with the team from the 1970s anytime soon.

Re: New Article: Stillers-Patsies Postgame Analysis and Grades
After watching the losses of late and the weeeeeeeak wins this last month, I am renewed at the pulverizing crush in the Mach5 stadium. I think TV Dan said it best when calling this time of year is when the Stillers begin to turn it up...this is Stiller weather and Stiller time. There are still obvious problems with the team that need addressed. As in Ben's arm and stupid penalties (maybe Mike T accepts those penalties because the intensity is displayed there?). The kicker seemed to do his part with manageable kicks with no screw ups. Hopefully he continues to heal and doesn't goo limp late in the playoffs....I've called it here first if he does.
I'll call another one here first....simply one of the best defenses I've ever seen!!! Strong and FEARED! Super Bowl Caliber!

Indy - jacking off aside, tell me who in the AFC is poised to make a deep run in the post season? The Ratbirds? The Jets? The Titans? None of those teams scare me or have done anything to make me think they'll handle the Steelers easily. Yep, no doubt, plenty of room for improvement, even in yesterday's game where the final could have easily been 45-3 Steelers, there are no DOMINANT teams in the NFL other than the Giants maybe.

I don't think anyone is comparing this team with the '70's teams, but I'll damn sure compare them to any team in NFL right now.

Field General:
Well, for one, I would say the Titans. Also, despite how much we might despise it, the Ravens are playing better and only a modest step behind us.
My point is you never know which team is going to show up on a weekly basis this year and it has a lot to do with no real identity.
As for the comparision to the 1970 team -- I agree. On the other hand, with all the ball washing that will occur this week, you would think they are on the verge of being that 1970 team. They are not.
I want them to win as much as anyone but I guess I'm not as optimistic as others. Again, I go back to my questions I posed. Plus, I'll add --- how did we not stop the delay draws against NE? Are you kidding me? They acted like they'd never seen that play before!

Actually, according to a source, with a win and some help, the Steelers clinch a playoff spot.
I'm just sayin' is all.
This team isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but no team in the NFL is and, as they proved a few years ago, all you need to do is get in and get hot at the right time.

Next week's grade on Dick Lebeau:
This guy constantly gets lucky. Week in, week out, it looks like the Stillers defense played good, but the astute mind can see that it is only because of luck. This week, the ONLY reason the defense stuffed the Cryboys all game was because Jessica Simpson was at the game, and we all know Tony Romo doesn't play well when his girlfriend is in the stands.

Re: New Article: Stillers-Patsies Postgame Analysis and Grades
wow....I COULD have sworn we blew out the pats AT gillette......but not by this article.
you state in your article we are lucky as the pats could have scored more but for dropped td passes....same goes for steelers.
this was the worst bad weather game big ben has ever played in ....in five years.... THATS SAYIN SOMETHIN.
plain and simple the steelers came to hit hard and steamroll. the patsies did not. the steelers were not daunted by the horrific weather.....the patsies were.
the will to win was definitely and decidedly with the steelers.
this article was so negative and anti steeler it is actually laughable.

Re: New Article: Stillers-Patsies Postgame Analysis and Grades
Ok, so in each of the past two weeks, the Cassel throws for 400+ yards and the Pats combine for nine touchdowns. But, again, Lebeau is so lucky. Again, the Steelers are playing the toughest schedule since 1976, while giving up the fewest yards per play since 1978, and Lebeau is lucky. To save readers having to read future genius insight from Mill, let me break down the playoffs. If the Steelers lose, it is because Arians and Lebeau are complete morons (and Farrior and Clark suck). If they win, it will be because 1. Lebeau got so lucky to play a shitty team every playoff game and 2. the refs probably cheated for the Steelers. Dick Lebeau is beloved by his players and is generally considered one of the best defensive coordinators in NFL history. And the numbers back that up. But, of course, "Still Mill" knows better. Just like he knows better than all those NFL owners that would slit their wrist to get Bill Cowher as their coach. They're not as smart or "watch as much tape" as Mill. Here's a hint, Mill: When the pros "watch tape," they don't have to fast-forward through commercials of "Two and a Half Men."

When's the last time this Steeler team has shown up flat for a game?
Philly- maybe?
I would say week in and week out, you know EXACTLY what you're gonna get from this team.
They've been beat by Philly and no one else (other two losses, they beat themselves).
And identity shmydentity.
The team HAS an identity- it's "whatever it takes to win".

Re: New Article: Stillers-Patsies Postgame Analysis and Grades
All this hating is garbage and ridiculous. The Steelers have been in every single game this year--even the Philly game--and that's mostly because of a nasty, dominating defense, a defense that hasn't allowed more than 24 points in any game this year. Yeah Farrior's on the downside of his career and I'd much rather see Timmons getting more of his and Foote's time, but Mill's had it out for Potsie ever since he got here. "The Winged God of LB Coverage?" c'mon, give it a rest. I knew going in that the Steelers' would be blamed on the Steelers, and the Pats' drops would be blamed on...the Steelers. It's ridiculous. There is some good analysis and I really enjoyed the Gildong reports back in the day, but when you go into New England's house and win 33-10, you played a helluva game. But we should hate on the Steelers with Mill, or we might get our membership revoked. Anyone who's been reading his stuff for a while remembers when Chris Hoke was "Hoke The Joke." I pointed that out after a game earlier this year when Hoke was getting praised and Hampton trashed, and it was promptly deleted. In fact I doubt most people will read this because Mill doesn't want any hint of his imperfections. But here it is.
We go 12-4, win the division, and take the #2 seed. I won't predict the playoffs, but I must say the only team that really concerns me is the Giants.

Got to go ahead and kinda' disagree with Mill on the KO returns. It seemed to me the first two kicks, the Cheats deliberately tried to kick toward Davis and away from Russell. Third KO, they stood together and Russell took it.

Mill went beyond "tough love" and into parody shortly after the Steelers won the Super Bowl...the one he said could never be won under Cowher.
