Big Ben 3 Interceptions this week and last week also

Postby Hi5Steeler » Sun Nov 09, 2008 8:36 pm

SIX INTERCEPTIONS IN TWO WEEKS.

Ben was hurt. We should have started Leftwich. Big Ben is the franchise but his pocket awareness is not in top form. Leftwich would have easily cleaned house on the Colts.

Im no Leftwich fan but his actions speak for themself. He can do the job better than Ben till ben is healed.

And Arians is a dipf@ck if he called that pass play right before the half on 3rd and 2 with 1:30 to go till halftime.

straight up that pass before the half cost us the game.

He had 4 against the Gynts.

1 last week.

3 this week.

8 in 2 1/2 games

The TV said something like 6 in his last 19 pass attempts.

That's just straight up garbage.

My mistake. I wasn't paying that close attention to the stat. Thanks for the catch on that one. Still, that is garbage, no matter how you spin it.

The issue may be less to do with the physical limitations of the injury than the lack of preparation. We've heard multiple times this year Ben did not practice because of his shoulder. There are some positions where you can get away with missed practices. But the QB position requires timing and rhythm. This is developed during the weekly practices.
I believe this is a huge issue if Ben needs to consistently rest his shoulder. :sufootballhelmet:
Of course they also should have played it safe in the first half...and I want them to be aggressive. I just felt it was foolish to risk an Int..you could see the frustration mounting in Peyton until that point. Really dumb.

Rest him till the December game with the Boys and if they are eliminated by then, rest him till the Ravens. This was the perfect opportunity to let Lefty play and Tomlin didn't. No guts, still in his defensive shell.

Ben is not just hurt, his mechanics are piss-poor. He doesn't have the arm strength to throw off his back foot and get enough on the ball. Take a look when he throws the ball with proper mechanics vs off his back foot. He really needs to watch his game film and work on it.

The world's best athletes focus on their mechanics. You think Michael Phelps would collect 8 gold medals if his mechanics were flawed? What about a major league pitcher? Think he could get by with so-so mechanics? Not a chance...

To me, it's pretty simple...work on the stuff that got you to this level...the rest will take care of itself...

Its a matter of the team getting everything playing well together. If we can have the same Ben from 2004, 2005 or 2007, we'll be Superbowl contenders. If not, I see us potentially missing the playoffs.

BR7 has played like garbage for the last several weeks, and Arians couldn't properly call
a game if his life depended on it, but did anyone notice that Santokio Holmes quit on the
route on the second pick?

Some of those INT's were garbage. What I don't or can't understand is that Ben had the second highest QB rating in the league last year. So what happened? Arians? Yeah, that's a big part of it. No running game? That makes more sense. When you are only getting 1 or 2 yards, at best, on first down, PLEASE. Plus I think Arians isn't putting Ben in situations to win on 1rst, second, or third down. Arians does great the first drive of every game, then he shits the bed.

Ben did great last year. His talents didn't change, so it must be the OC. You have to call, design plays that compliment your players.

I'm watching the Cards game, even thought they are losing at this point, Whiz has a 37 year old qb doing well.

Whiz would have be such a better HC. He wasn't signed because Ben didn't like him. They chose Ben over Whiz.

We have been so enamored with having a decent qB, the first since Bradshaw, that we are giving Ben too much of a leash. Let's be honest, we won the SB despite of Ben. He played like shit in the SB. He did well in the games previous, but he played out of his ass, mostly at the benefit of Whiz calling killer gameplans.

The D is pissed at the O, and unless Tomiln gets this team together, there is no hope. Mark my words, we will be out the first round of the playoffs if we are lucky enough to get that far.

we are riding the coatails of a great coaching staff. Tomlin is a hack. Just wait until we lose all our FA's next year. We have lean years ahead.

I hope to shit I'm wrong. Hell, we won the SB in a similar year. The difference is no Cowher, no Whiz, no Randle El...no Chris Hope. Explain to me how we sign Farrior but not Hope. Please! Fuck Mill (who I normally agree with ) on this point. Hope was well worth the money, considering what was spent of Farrior and Clark. Hope made Troy the PB player he is.

Ben is not 100% and he is also playing better defenses. They also are utilizing a lot more timing and option routes than in the past due to the offensive line, and miscommunications between QB and WR have been a problem. The other thing is Ben is kind of like Favre in that he can throw accurately on the move and with poor form, but at 80% his arm can't get it done and he's never really mastered that understanding.

And some of the bad decisions, again mostly miscommunications (of which Ben has a big part), really don't have anything to do with the shoulder.

The shoulder is a problem if defenses don't respect the homerun, and clearly right now there is little fear of Ben beating teams deep consistently. Between the OL, the WR's and Ben's shoulder these guys are incapable right now of marching the field consistently. It's pretty simple, if Ben can't practice and throw deep he needs to sit.

Tomlin not running this team. Ben is. Make a strong stand Mikey. You're the boss start doing what's right for this team. Short term sit Ben. Long Term Fire Arians and Larry the Porn Junky.
