Parker Out, Ben optimistic about playing

Postby Lake37 » Fri Nov 07, 2008 1:33 pm

Parker is out this week and Roethlisberger is optimistic about playing, although he didnt practice on Thursday. I personally wouldn't mind seeing Ben take a week off to get healthy again, b/c I think Lefty is perfectly capable of running the offense. It's supposed to be muddy too so it could be another big Mewelde day.

What in the wide, wide, world of sports is going on around here (name that movie)?! What the hell is wrong with Fragile Willie now?! He was just bitching in the article posted by Nova that he wanted the freakin ball more and now he's not even playing?! McLovin not sure that Melwelde is the mudder type...he's quick and shifty. Could be Dookie time. McLovin with Lake sit Ben this week if he's not practicing...gawd knows he needs the practice lately...give lefty and his 98 career qb rating against the Colts in some shit weather a shot.

Those are all good questions, and they need to be addressed by this front office, IMO. As I've said in another post, we are finding out why Soft Willie never played at NC.....his pu$$y was always hurt. He's had the same rap sheet on him since he was younger.....too soft, too weak, too scared, too fragile, and too afraid to mix it up with interior lineman and linebackers. This little guy has poor vision, is a poor blocker, and has been unable to get tough yardage when needed. He was a one trick pony with speed and speed only, and he doesn't even have that anymore. Time to put this little dude on the waiver wire, and then watch as his journeymen backup role in the NFL blossoms.

We need real running backs in Pittsburgh, not weak little bitches like Duce Staley and Soft Willie that our front office seems sold on. Drafting Rashard was a good start last year, but we need a big, bruising physical runner to pound defenses and take pressure off Ben.....and make play-action start working again. We basically haven't had an opposing defense bring safeties up for run support against us since Bettis left, and Ben is the one who is suffering because of it.

Injuries happen its part of the game but damn don't bitch for the ball and then decide you can't play. Even bettis missed a handful of games nearly every year due to his groin etc. Steelers are free to break with their traditions should they so decide. But to McLovin the Steelers' philosophy is built around a strong offensive line and a bruising running game. The only thing traditional about this team is the great defense...oh and the first place record.

ouch. yeah if ben's shoulder injury was a separation, it won't fully heal until next season. if he feels ready then let him start.

But apparently he was not very sharp in practice Friday. You are right about the separation and Ben has generally been able to play through it. Maybe not as his best, but pretty good. Really, other than NYG Ben has not been the problem. They had OL communication issues against PHI and against WAS receivers just dropped too many passes.

But I also thought I heard Ben had a bruised AC joint. If that's the case, maybe he should sit for a week or two because that will get better. Someone else made a good point, I though, that some of the WR miscommunications we've seen could be because Ben isn't able to practice. If they need to run a very quick hitting offense, it's critical for the WR and QB to be on the same page. If Ben can't practice to develop that chemistry it's going to negatively impact performance in the game.

Can anyone tell me if I should get a Willie Parker Jersey? He keeps getting injured and I don't know if He will play for Pittsburgh much longer. His contract ends in 2010.

100% agreed. I am actually having a hard time deciding if I should get a Woodley or Harrison jersey. I doubt that the Stillers would resign Parker considering his injury history and the current shelf life that most NFL running backs have.
