Ben's admission
The PG reports that after a morning meeting with Tomlin, Banged up Ben admits that he needs to play better in the second half. When asked if he thought he should take the week off to rest Ben replied with a "You all want me to take the week off don't you?" Basically, Ben would not blame the injury saying he needs to play and play better during the stretch run. McLovin agrees. McLovin wonders what Tomlin had to say to Ben in that meeting. Whatever it was Tomlin must see a Super Bowl run on the horizon and wants improved play from the qb. Interesting after the worst game by a Steeler WR in some time Santokeo said it was hard to get used to Baby Huey's fast ball compared to Ben's precision passing. Just catch the F'in ball SanTOKeo. McLovin wants Ben to go back to managing the game. No more than 20 passes and a whole bunch of Willie and MeMo. Let the NFL's top ranked defense do the rest. Anyway Ben didn't practice and Tomlin said he will be evaluated daily. Ed Douchette said Baby Huey 98 passer rating against Colts with 7 tds and only 1 int...does Douchette suspect Baby Huey going to play?

Re: Ben's admission
Not gonna happen mclovin, the line is not good enuff to allow the running game to dictate a game where we can pass 20 times a game. That mite work agaist your texans and bottom of the barrel teams , but not the schedule we are facing.
I have watched every play this season and whenever the stillers want to run to set up the pass its always 3rd and 8, this running game only works after the the pass sets it up. willy is willy 210 lbs outside the box and there is no road grater line anymore to make it 3rd and 3.
if bens shoulder and torn ligament in his throwing hand is gonna be there till the off season then I dont see him playing much better then he has been, which was fine prior to the giants game.
I really dont think byron or anyone else will fair any better over the long haul behind our line and over time byron would get worn down from the hits and his play will drop also.

Re: Ben's admission
Point taken Darth...One of the things stated in the Wexell article posted by Nova is that Steeler players and a defensive coach were frustrated Monday that Willie was not getting the ball for back to back runs. If he gained 5-8 yards Arians would quickly abandon the run and get back to the pass. McLovin in agreement that against strong defenses and when trailing the game plan needs to change. If every team were as easy to run on as Houston in the first game we'd have nothing to talk about. The point of Tomlin's meeting may very well have been to get Ben back to being a game manager at least until his injuries heal.

This all reminds me of a very ugly game in Oakland 2 years ago when we got our asses handed to us by the worst team in the league because Ben came back too early from an injury. Tomlin needs to sit him until he can play competitively.
Re: Ben's admission
One of the many things that bothers McLovin about Ed Bouchette is that he never has a thought of his own. Granted that's Smizik and Cooks job. But why not speculate on what was said between Tomlin and Ben? All we know is Ben came out of the meeting and said he needs to play beter the second half of the year. Maybe Tomlin told Ben if he took a game or 2 off his shoulder will heal and he will play better. Maybe he said he likes the way Byron looked and he said Ben should rest for a game and Ben flat out refused and promised the injury wouldn't be a problem. McLovin just wants the old Ben back... throw 20 times with a couple post pattern TD's to Hines and Miller. Let Willie run and let the defense do their usual solid job and let's finish strong this year. Seems simple enough doesn't it?
