Re: Good News from Iraqi
OK, the surge worked. I acknowledge this. Are you happy now? The arguable success of the surge still does not justify the invasion of Iraq in any way, shape, or form. It was and is a bullshit war, started for bullshit reasons. In my opinion, we should have kept all our troops in Afghanistan, because that's where the perpetrators of 9/11 had sought refuge. Even if we totally and completely crush all insurgents in Iraq and a new era of peace and democracy in Iraq begins tomorrow, it will not diminish the fact that we had no business invading that country.

Do you know that the Sunni Awakening happened months BEFORE the Surge started? Who's playing with logic now? This has been all over the news over the past week, you should know this. I'm happy to hear how confident your son is in our Iraqi policy since if you get your way next election he's going to be there a long time.

If you read my previous post, you'd know that I stated the Sunni Awakening had begun before the Surge. You would also know that the Sunni Awakening was part of a concerted effort by US forces in Ramadi and Al Anbar and that because of the success of that stategy those same tactics were implemented and used in other parts of Iraq during the Surge. Do you have any idea that the Sunni Sheiks were working hand-in-hand with our forces? If not, you may want to read up on it.

Had we not helped and supported the Sunni Awakening with our forces, equipment and strategy, they would have been systematically eliminated in the beginning of the movement as they had been in 2005. Could we have done it without them. No. Could they have done it without us. Definately not. As I stated before, the Sunni Awakening in Al Anbar began before the Surge. The troops that were already in Al Anbar were already employing the COIN strategy in that area which directly assisted in the movement getting off the ground. The addition of troops into Al Anbar after the Surge continued that progress and advanced it to an even greater area in Al Anbar. What part of that don't you get? Seriously?
That is why that same strategy was adopted by General Petreaus and implemented elsewhere. Because it had worked in Al Anbar before the Surge. If you would like, I would gladly explain the entire concept to you and tell you how they did it, but the link above does a really good job of that. Hopefully, even the less endowed in the gray matter arena will be able to understand the concept.
BTW - My son is currently applying what he learned in Ramadi in southern Afghanistan.
Marines should come with warning labels.

Shhhhhhhhhhhh! I hate to tell you this, but even Barry Obamessiah is having a hard time denying that we are winning in Iraq. And I really hate to tell you, but...I told you so.
LOL. Who's winning? The common American citizen? What have they won? What will they win? The American soldier? What have they won? What have they lost (Over 4,000 have lost their lives, over 20,000 limbs, brains, or something of the sort).
So, how is the common American citizen "winning" anything from this created war? Get specific.
But who is _really_ winning that we know of?
Multi-national oil companies. Check.
Warn profiteers. Check.
The international bankers that make up the federal reserve and World Bank. Check.
War mongering companies like Haliburton and Black Water. Check.
So, tell me how the vast majority of America is benefiting from this war. Go ahead.
I'm all ears.
Oh, and just in case you are going to try to sell that invading and occupying Iraq is fighting terror, save that bull shit for someone who can't think, such as your ilk.

Needless to say, I guess it was all just dumb luck on our troops part to have the luxury of observing this miraculous turnabout. Right time, right place kinda thingy. Convenient observers, they were. Got ya. Good thing we had that slight (30,000 is slight?) increase of troops so more of our guys could sit around and watch it all take place before their very eyes.
Are you sure Obamessiah didn't just perform some sort of miracle? You know, waive his hands in the air, part the Red Sea sorta stuff. I am sure he could have if he had wanted. The Fan Of STEEL wrote:Extra bodies on the ground did little, it was the change in tactics.
Extra bodies enabled the change of tactics, nimrod.
Hey Sarka, do you think a cease fire and Sunni awakening that happened BEFORE the surge might have something to do with it? Do you really think adding 20,000 troops to about 150,000 really would have that much of an impact? Go back to bumper sticker slogans, this is way too complicated for you to understand. You're precisely the kind of voter that moronic Swiftboating attacks are aimed at.
Nailed it. That's gonna leave a mark!
