Can a 44 year old still compete in MMA

At 44 can Mark Coleman compete in the UFC?
He's set to compete with Mauricio "Shogun" Rua on Jan. 17 at UFC 93 in Dublin, Ireland.
Coleman was an NCAA wrestling champion at Ohio State and enjoyed success as one of the pioneers of the ground-and-pound strategy. He beat Dan Severn to win the UFC heavyweight title at UFC 12 in 1997.
