Have we seen the highwater mark of the Raven's D?

Postby thesteelhammer » Mon Jan 19, 2009 11:00 am

Are the glory years for the Raven's D coming to an end?

They are about to lose their D coordinator to the Jets.
Ray Lewis is getting older and is a free agent this summer.

Yes. I think the Raven's offense will be better next year, but their defense is getting older and will certainly be hit by free-agency. It's going to be tough for Harbaugh to field the same caliber of defense next year.

Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs AND Bart Scott are all free agents. Only two of them will be back.

The Knife wants $20 million.

If the Ravens are smart, they let him go and sign Suggs & Scott with that money.
Fortunately (for us Steelers fans) they sort of have to re-sign Lewis...
...which will handicap their salary cap for at least the next two years...along wiht losing their BEST two LBs (Suggs & Scott).

In other words, let's pray for The Knife to get his $20 million. :D

thier done,
they were above avg this yr , but nothing like people were making em out to be.
the steelrs drove the field on them everytime they needed a score in 3 games, titans walked all over the, giants put 30 points on em ect....

the loss of ryan and another yr on alot of those vets will take its toll.

Clearly Suggs doesn't know his teammates very well.

That means the Raven won't re-sign them all. If you paid attention to the title game last week you all saw the weakness lies within their corners. As hammer's post showed looks like McCallister could be cut, Rolle always hurt. Ravens strong up front with BloMe Ngata but Ravens will in fact be in serious trouble if they have to replace 2 starting corners and possibly both inside backers if Scott and Gay Ray do in fact leave. Suggs will be Franchised. Have fun rebuilding the D Ozzie Newsuck!

It's actually a lot worse. Lewis, Suggs, Scott, Dawan Landry AND Jim Leonhard are all free agents.
