Ben, Bell, and Brown to sit against Cleveland

Postby Steelers76 » Thu Dec 29, 2016 11:25 am

It was announced yesterday that Ben R., Lev Bell, and Antonio Brown will sit in the upcoming game against Cleveland. Since the Steelers have already secured the No.3 Seed for the NFL playoffs in the AFC, it makes the game against the Browns totally meaningless. Landry Jones will start at QB against Cleveland.

Finally, a Tomlin decision I'm 100% in favor of! :subngtowl:

Good news. Now the entire o line needs to sit, too.

Have we not seen enough of Landry Jones? I would like to see what Mettenberger can do, even if it is only for a half. Maybe he is our back-up next season?

Apparently M. Pouncey will sit as well. Too bad there are only so many back-ups, or I'm sure more starters on both sides would sit.

And I agree about L. Jones, SoCal. With his contract expiring at the end of this season, I'd be in favor of playing him for the 1st half of the game, then letting Mettenberger play in the other half.

I'm ok with it provided these guys don't completely checkout prior to the playoffs and need 3 quarters to knock the rust off.

Whaaat??? Are you implying that a Tomlin-led team would be unprepared for a football game? Blasphemy.

I'd be lying if I would say that concern wasn't in the back of my mind. However, I'd rather take my chances with that then with a key player being sidelined when the playoffs started due to him playing in the equivalent of a week 1 pre-season contest.
