Stat of the Broncos Game.............

Postby StillDodger » Sun Jan 08, 2012 11:51 pm

Steelers "D" had only two passes defensed the entire game.......... And one of them was by James Harrison..............

Broncos Champ Bailey himself had three passes defensed..............

Actually, 10 completions for 316 yards is the stat of the game. This is what happens when you play the type of scheme we played today: Zero Blitz, Zero Cover.

I'm not sure if it was cover zero........ But we cheated our safeties too much....... I think LeBeau grossly overestimated his own corners. They couldn't cover my grandma..........

I talked to someone who is familiar with the Broncos- The team totally changed its game plan. The Broncos added yet another lineman and the Steelers had too much fear in the run option, and the Broncos saw the safeties cheating up, and chose to pick on our corners. Since Tebow never had a great passing day prior to today, the Broncs' scouts apparently saw such a ghastly weakness in our corners, to where even Tebow was able to exploit it. (Our ability to stop the run with our base defense covered up this weakness. The only other team able to exploit it was the Ravens, which was the only other team we had trouble stopping on the ground.)

My fear personally was big plays off the run/option. If someone told me Tebow would pass for 300 this game, I would have asked him what he's been smoking. But I never realized how awful our corners really were. That game winning drive by the Ravens in the second game, in retrospect, is not as shocking as I thought it was. (I was blaming the safeties on that drive, but our corners flat out suck.)
