Dead on as usual Mill. I blame alot of this "laid back we are the mighty steelers" attitude on Tomlin. He needs to put a fire under these premadonna's asses instead of standing on the sidelines trying to look cool , calm and collective. Do you think a Belencheat team would come out on the field and take one up the ass like the steelers did yesterday? I don't think so. You have to believe that talent wise most teams are pretty even as far as players go. Its the coaching that makes the big difference.
The Steelers will only be as successful as Big Ben is!

While I am not pleased with what happened yesterday. We know you can't win the Super Bowl in September, but they better get their shit together or they will have no chance for #7. I had to stop watching after the 3rd Qtr...first time I've done that in my 46 yrs on this earth!

After watching Willie Gay yesterday, all I kept thinking was, "we cut Crezdon Bulter and Donovan Warren for this clod?!?!?!?!" I don't care how well he "knows the defense." If he's got no skills, he's got NO SKILLS!

Ike was the only bright spot for the defense, but the preening is such BS - particulary when you are getting your asses handed to you. I wish the team would/could fine him when he does that crap. I can't remember an opening day humiliation this bad.

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results" - Einstein

Well, last year, we got tooled by every elite quarterback in the league we went up against. This year, we are doing absolutely nothing different, and the D is a year older. Now it appears even mid-level QB's like Flaccid can carve us up.

pathetic and rancid and the same old problems, Dick's old and past it, Bruce is clueless, Tomlin is full of hot air and precious little else it seems and Ben looked like he was playing his first day of college football...The Ratbirds, unfortunately, looked sharp and ready for anything, and Harbaugh seems to have actually used the off season to do some constructive things, like bring in some good new talent, a good looking DC and cut loose alot of the dead wood...all things which I think Tomlin has failed to do (same old shit secondary, same old shit O line)...I fear it's going to be a long season...

What a debacle. It's worth singling out the linebackers because they now have very generous contracts and are supposed to be the unit that distinguishes the Steelers from every other team. Harrison played better than the others despite his injury. The offensive line was putrid but this is of less concern, I think, because the OL always is mixed up and ineffective at the start of the season. Given time, they'll cohere into a unit of adequate mediocrity.

Here is the biggest concern from yesterday: Everyone knows the defense is overmatched against elite QBs like Brady and Rogers and Brees. Flacco is not an elite QB and until yesterday Steelers have consistently demonstrated that PGH can beat Baltimore playing its game. The Ravens retooled during the off-season and made a convincing case that BALT can beat PGH on its own terms - winning the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, coming up with superior defensive schemes, etc. I hope Tomlin made the team run wind sprints after they returned to PGH. In fact, it would only be just for Tomlin to have run more than anyone else.

Still, it's worth noting that the Steelers have such an easy schedule that 12-4 should be the floor with this team.

35-7 and our Franchise QB is in to the very end. Somewhere in the 2nd half, I was routing for turnovers or fail to convert to keep our QB from missing the rest of the season. Almost happened, I think in the 3rd, when Suggs only hit the ball when the QB was launching a deep one. Suggs blocks the arm, there goes the passing elbow and.... Yeah, he's the starting QB and should play, rah-rah-rah, but not when there is no hope(cmon no hope, duh), live to fight another day. He's still in there with less than 3 mins left down by 25(are we still hoping? then talk to me if u want a good deal on the Golden gate bridge). Utterly Stupid, along with the rest of game plan which was what "but were the Steelers, so we win"?

Absolutely not!
Not when they can get me for half the salary and get equal results (and I'm 59, lean with a few operations on knees and shoulders), but hell, at half the cost- same output, I'm a damn steal!

Hey, Steel Holiday, I forgot to mention I've had hernia surgery as well! And I would STILL be a steal at half the price of Wm Gay!

I stopped after after our first 2 drives. Front office wants this passive crap from MT and idiocy that pases for offensive genius from Mr. Short Bus? Let 'em have it. 3 yrs from #7 SB until we rebuild the old folks home we affectionately call Steeler D

These coordinators need a serious overhaul. Arians continues to be the most predictable, cupcake play caller in the league. Can someone explain to me the draw play on first and goal that lost 4 yards? I'm sick of people mistaking Ben's improvisation for Arians actually being good at his job.

Our D is usually great at stopping the run, but we can't get any sort of pressure on the QB without running a blitz and our LB's (with the exception of Timmons) are too slow to cover a good slot receiver or TE. Everyone is beginning to take a page out of New England's playbook... quick, short passes over the middle and there's nothing we can do to stop it. I thought Dick would have addressed this a long time ago as we've gotten torched by New England every time but apparently not. You saw similar schemes with the Packers in the Superbowl and yesterday with Balt and there's nothing we can do to stop it.

Baltimore re-tooled for this season with an attitude and the players to get over the hump that has been the Stillers. At first glance it has done it. The Ravens marquee players all came to play and had huge plays. The Ratbirds are a difficult draw if Flacco isn't prone to his previous blunders. Baltimore is rolling now, we'll see how it carries them forward.

16 games is a long regular season. A team only has so much emotion it can expend throughout that process. The Stilllers do have the team chemistry to come back from such a crushing defeat.

Baltimore took it to the Stillers yesterday. They got kicked, got up and took a sucker punch, then went back down and got trampled over. Plenty of proven champions got out classed yesterday. Pittsburgh has been staggered by this, but when the Stillers come to their senses... somebody is going to pay.

The D line, the Linebackers and the Backs all sucked yesterday, the Entire 'D'. Last year at this time, our 'D' was lights out! What the 'f' gives? We have capable, younger, and faster replacements at all three levels that can come in and replace the older guys. There is much more upside in giving these guys the playing time.
1. What the heck was Foote doing out there that often?
2. Last meaningful game, it was Gay that was picked on and tormented. This time it wasa McFadden.

BEN SUCKS!!!

That's why we lost. He offers no leadership at all on offense and he is always un-prepared.

The D stunk today as well, but the Ben has stunk for quite sometime now.

Seven turnovers!? No team is going to win turning the ball over this much. Ben is the main goat here. If he continues to play this way then he needs to go.

And replace him with whom? Let's go 0-16 for Andrew Luck yay! In the meantime I'm sure Dixon and Batch can lead us to glory. </sarcasm>

Mill is entirely correct in his evaluation of Ben's performance this week, and it is disturbing to see that he picked up seemingly where he left off after the superbowl loss. Chucking him when there are so many other issues on offense ranging from line play, to Worley Mendenall to Bruce Arians' blindfold-and-dartboard playcalling, is foolhardy and quite frankly a kneejerk reaction shit franchises around the league that can't even notch one lousy postseason win in decades have. I'm not saying give him a contract for life by any means based on his recent play, but really who else would have led us to two world championships since they got here. If you want the Steelers to wait another 26 years between titles like they did between 4 and 5, then by all means, shitcan him.

Schedule gets kind of weak except for the Texans for a while, perhaps getting momentum from that will help, but hell these are professionals. You know the Steeler weaknesses...an aging defense that can't cover man to man. Offensive line that is worse than last year...Willie the Colon is not an upgrade on Flozell. Sure maybe they can out score teams through the air, but Benji is getting less and less dependable as he has to carry the offense as the Steelers got away from the old Cowher ground and pound with a big back running behind an ass kicking fullback. Could be rebuilding is in their future!!

Steel tank did not say replace BR7. He only said BR7 sucked. Which was a 100% accurate assessment. He also said we will suck until BR7 improves - which is also an accurate assessment. BR7 sucked donkey balls

It was the 9/11 curse brought on by Socrates (as Mill has appropriately dubbed Mendenhall- which is hilarious) Yes, any game from here to eternity played on 9/11 will results in humiliating defeat thanks to Socrates the ass

The defense looked slow, pathetic and stupid. Ben looked dazed and confused. This game reminded me of the Cleveland fiasco of a couple years ago. Tomlin better light a fire under this team.
