What Longshot Will Make The Final Roster?
It seems every season on every NFL Team some "longshot" who wasn't given much of a chance to make their respective teams roster does just that. If you were to pick that player among those left this year, who would it be? With Emmanuel Sanders hurt, I'm going to go with former WVU, 6'8 Wes Lyons at WR to add depth at the position.(Although I think he'll be waived/put on the practice squad once Sanders is healthy again.) Who is your pick? Discuss....

I don't know about a long shot, but I think we need to carry an extra DB. If Cortez, Curtis Brown, or this Macho guy aren't up to the task, then maybe we can find a promising young guy cut from someone elses roster to bring in and work with. Which of the three guys I mentioned above do you think will make the team?

BTW - I think the only way Lyons makes the cut is if Ben makes demands and plays the "I want a tall receiver" card. I didn't think he was going to make the cut over Battle or Grisham but the addition of Cotchery will probably send 2 of those 3 to the practice squad - more than likely Grisham & Lyons, Battle stays.

I could actually see Lyons making the cut over Grisham, but he's going to have to have a decent game in The Preseason Finale in Carolina tommorow that separates him from the heard. Otherwise, yeah, Grisham will make the cut over Lyons....

Typically the Steelers keep 6 WR on the roster. Ward, Wally, Brown, Sanders, and Cotchery are givens. Battle wins the last spot for his work on ST. When healthy, they are a fearsome group if we go 5 wide. Although, I agree with Mill in the fact that Heath Miller should be included in the 5 wide package, since he creates obvious mismatches.

With the return of Sanders, there is only one WR spot available. Battle's ST contribution is lessened by the stupid new kick-off rule so one of those other guys could possibly make it. I agree with 76 in that the final pre-season game might well be the determining factor for the final WR position.
