Ike Taylor
I note the recent interview with Taylor where he supposedly asserts he wants to come back to the Steelers but just wants his market value. Not to be negative, but those words usually do not lead to good results. It is almost always the case that a home town discount is part of a player returning to his current team. Hence, by definition, he does NOT get his full market value. The player fits the system, he has his buddies on the team, he knows his way around. All of those need to be factored in and lead to a win-win where the player takes less but is more prodcutive because his talents fit the system. When full market value is the requirement, it tends to lead to a signing by another team which may be worse overall for the player. See McFadden, Bryant; see Haynesworth, Albert.
Let's hope that "market value" means home town discount, not full open market value. If it is the latter, Ike likely will not get his money here and is probably headed for another club.

Re: Ike Taylor
Ike took way less than his market value with his last contract so hopefully he'll take a 15% discount from "market value" to stay with the Steelers. It's tough to imagine him playing for a different team because of how much he loves the Steelers.

Re: Ike Taylor
If we can get merely a decent corner on this team, Taylor will be soon forgotten, relegated to the Mark Malone Ineptitude Hall of Shame..............
Whenever Tom Brady loses, it's always someone else's fault.

Espn's james walker and KFFL are reporting that
Pittsburgh Steelers impending free-agent CB Ike Taylor is not expected to take a discount in order to re-sign with the Steelers. Taylor said he will looking for fair market value when the lockout is over.

Re: Ike Taylor
The idea of market value confuses me.
Why would the rest of the league see anything but a 31 year old guy who drops interceptions, and has excelled on a team known for producing players that fit their system exceptionally well? For years people only connected Taylor with that bite on play action against the Colts during Monday Night Football and how he got deep sixed by Marvin "Mustache" Harrison. Ike has never received any respect via the media or the rest of the league, so it makes little sense for him to get any now.
From the Steelers prospective Ike Taylor is an established, durable veteran who knows the defense and is a team leader. He has covered countless top receiving threats effectively, and again, has always been on the field ready to face that challenge.
As a younger generation Stillers fan Ike T. is one of my favorite players of all time. There is little doubt in my mind that he can play 4 or 5 more years in the right situation, and I hope he gets resigned for a fair deal. Financially speaking though, Ike's Stillers value looks much better than his market value.

FOXSports.com's Adam Caplan is reporting
So in all likelihood, there goes our top CB.
According to multiple sources, the Philadelphia Eagles will show strong interest in Pittsburgh Steelers impending free-agent CB Ike Taylor once free agency starts. With the Eagles possibly playing more zone and less man coverage in the secondary this season based on the adjustment the defensive line is expected to undergo, Taylor would fit in quite well.
So in all likelihood, there goes our top CB.
