Re: Fire Arians!
Who can turn a 1st and 10 on the 20 yard line into a 3rd and 15? *Bruce*
Who can turn a 1st and 5 on the 15 yard line into a 3rd and 9 with no first down? *Bruce*
Whose the worst offensive coordinator in the league? Probably Bruce.
I think our defense is a better offense than our offense.

Re: Fire Arians!
9 points off of 6 turnovers, 2 of those turnovers came on the opponent's own 30 and 20 yard line.
How many more 3rd and outs do you think Bruce will orchestrate this game? Oh! there's another one off McFadden's INT.
Dump, dump, pass. Dump, dump, pass. There's no way anyone can outcoach Arian's brilliance.

Re: Fire Arians!
I am not a big fan of the current Steelers offense but I think you have to consider the fact that Redman is the closest thing we have to a fullback which limits the running side of the offense and so far we are 2-0 while playing our 3rd and 4th string quarterbacks. Granted our defense deserves most of the credit, but Arians deserves some just for being able to keep his pieced together offense from losing these games.

Re: Fire Arians!
Someone said that people started leaving this board because of insults. I respectfully disagree. I think it has more to do with you guys bitching about the same old shit every week, every year. It's week 2, the Steelers are 2-0 with their 3rd & 4th string QB, the D is playing lights out, and you guys are complaining? Are you guys seriously going to make everyone put up with this for another 5 months? We get it, some of you don't like Arians, some of you feel that every single play in the game has to go in favor of the Steelers or else the coaches need fired, some of you think the Steelers should win every game 45-0 or else Lebeau and Arians and Tomlin are idiots, and the team sucks. WE GET IT!
Now shut the fuck up!
Now shut the fuck up!

Re: Fire Arians!
I think Arians and the Steelers are dealing with the most limited qb ability we have seen in years. It is obvious that DD and Charlie just can't get it done. I with I had a coaches cam because I wonder if are receivers are getting any separation.

More like, the defense deserves nearly ALL the credit.
IF anything they had to win inspite of Arian's follies. When your defense hands you the ball on your opponent's 30 yard line, then again on their 20 yard line...

This sums up every game for the last 3 seasons. It has been repeated many times on these boards.
"The biggest hurdle between the Stillers and a 7th SB title is not any team in the AFC, but their own internal saboteur, Bruce Arians"
Cleveland fired him for being HORRIBLE!!! He really is that bad.

"Inspite of Arian's follies" You must be talking about how he made bad calls and caused the 3rd and 4th quarterbacks to turn the ball over. I must have missed that part of the game. A field goal is always better that an interception.
Cleveland is known for making good decisions, like firing Belichick, because history has showed us he sucks. Those 3 super bowls were just flukes.
You all need to quit crying and be grateful the Steelers D is winning games and Arians isn't over playing his under-talented quarterbacks and giving the opponents defense free points. The Steelers are winning and look pretty damn good given what they are playing with. Be happy.

Re: Fire Arians!
As much as I think Arians is an absolute clusterf$$k at OC, we need to give him a chance to work w/ Ben first, since he has QB castoffs at his disposal currently.
I just don't understand why he doesn't employ more screens since the current crop of QB's have candy-a$$ arms. I also don't know why he insists on throwing "out" patterns, too. Work the friggin middle of the field!!!!

Re: Fire Arians!
It's best summed up like this . . . .
During Bruce's reign as OC when our offense has sucked (that's a lot), . . . the defense normally keeps it close and bails out the offense.
See this years first two games, and a raft of games in 08, . . hey and even a few games last year too . . . Vikes springs to mind!
When last year the defense was decimated by injuries and we played Gay at corner (shakes head), it for once, wasn't able to do the above . . .
So it shouldn't be too much to expect the offense, (which was pretty much healthy all year) to maybe go help the Defense out by scoring a shit load of points, sustain drives and keep the Defense off the field, . . . . apart from when it didn't matter at the tail end of last season, . . . .
THIS DID NOT HAPPEN . . . .
Arians Sucks

Re: Fire Arians!
I thought the game plan on offense last week was nearly flawless. Pittsburgh had the lead from the opening kickoff. The only 3 points Tennessee scored before the 4th quarter was after a turnover.
I was thrilled that against a team like the Titans, Pittsburgh didn't force any extra scoring with the lead. Every other team in the league might get burned by this move, but nobody else runs a defense out on the field like the Steelers. There wasn't any value in risking a turnover just to put up points, and I'm glad that the coaches felt the same way The only offense that can beat the Steelers defense right now is their own. Grind the ball and play suffocating defense. It's what yinz want.

Re: Fire Arians!
I used to defend Arians, but jumped on the 'fuck him' bandwagon last year after his 'let's throw the ball 40 times on a cold, windy night in Cleveland' charade.
Having said this, some people need to chill the fuck out. We're essentially down to our 4th QB. Batch had 9 completions for like 19 yards. How about the play he nearly got Miller decapitated? You can't blame that solely on Arians.
I'm not saying he's the shit. I'm just saying you can't judge his season's performance on these first 4 weeks.

Re: Fire Arians!
Hidden Stat line on ESPN this week:
"Amazingly, despite being 2-0, the Steelers have not had a single goal-to-go offensive down this season. They've had only 10 red zone plays total, none closer than the 7-yard line, and those plays have averaged 0.5 yards."
Fuck Arians, whose sphincter is puckered so tight without Ben to bail him out that he couldn't pass a pencil.

Re: Fire Arians!
That is an amazing stat but not surprising. If the Bloodclot can't score from 40-out, he gives up and punts.
(BTW, can anyone explain to me why any punter on ANY NFL team, getting paid big $, still kicks into the EZ and NO Special Teams C is waiting on the sidelines to rip his friggin' head off?)
Screw the distance crap. MT should demand he spend 2 hours EVERY day hitting inside the 10 from anywhere on the field.
Back to Bruce, he puts so much pressure on the D, that it cannot hold up for an entire year. That said, why did we go softee in 4th as we always do? This stuff never works either.
Yeah, we're 2-0 without Ben. It'd sure be nice to have a cushion once in a while to get 2nd liners in for some quality PT. We're gonna need it. No, we're NOT happy, when we see our talent used as tackling dummies for other D's.

Do you remember (I think 3 years ago) when our ST coverage was SO BAD I used to pray Gardocki would kick it into the end zone?? I remember during the Jacksonville game that year, screaming to the TV, "TOUCHBACK, PLEASE!!!!" I believe we had 3 kicks returned for TDs in the span of 2 games. Good grief, I can be happy with our D starting at the 20.
