Anthonyc20 Stillers mock Draft v3.0
Round 1
I think there is a good chance the Steelers either trade up for mcclain or haden, or trade down for a linebacker or Kyle Wilson, but I am assuming they are picking at 17...
Jared Odrick 3-4 DE/4-3 DT Penn State
Height: 6-5. Weight: 304.
Projected 40 Time: 5.09.
Combine 40 Time: 4.98.
Benchx225: 26. Vertical: .
Projected Round (2010): Top 25 Pick.
Im not necessarily in love with this pick due to some injury and discipline problems, but he is a great value for the Steelers. He has a good amount of experience and can rotate into the defense for a year while learning the defense. Way more talented than Hood, and a d-line anchored by hood and odrick in 2 or 3 years would be amazing. Earl Thomas isn't the right pick here because of inexperience and lack of tackling ability, and I don't see us taking an offensive player or NT, so Odrick would seem to be the pick at 17.
Round 2
Brandon Spikes ILB Florida
Height: 6-3. Weight: 249.
Projected 40 Time: 4.74.
Combine 40 Time: .
Benchx225: 27. Vertical: 36.5.
Projected Round (2009): 2-3.
Huge upside, size and athleticism. Durable, great leader and is tough as nails. Not very good in coverage but I think he has the athleticism to improve. I think Spikes is an impact player and would be a great Steeler.
Round 3
Donovan Warren CB Michigan
Height: 5-11. Weight: 193.
Projected 40 Time: 4.40.
Combine 40 Time: 4.59.
Benchx225: 12. Vertical: .
Projected Round (2010): 3-4.
Another defensive player with huge upside. Can play safety or corner. Dropping due to a sub-par combine but I think hes a 1st or 2nd round talent. Good size and a very good tackler, a little weak in press coverage but a very good alla round player.
Round 4
Kyle Calloway OT Iowa
Height: 6-6. Weight: 323.
Projected 40 Time: 5.22.
Combine 40 Time: 5.51.
Benchx225: . Arm: 33 1/4.
Projected Round (2010): 3-4.
Right tackle, nothing too outstanding but a solid player with good experience. Started a lot of games for the Hawkeyes and would add immediate depth to a thin offensive line.
Round 5
Van Eskridge S East Carolina
Height: 6-0. Weight: 200.
Projected 40 Time: 4.60.
Combine 40 Time: .
Benchx225: . Vertical: .
Projected Round (2010): 5-6.
Ball hawking safety, had 6 picks and 9 passes defended last year. Played a pretty competitive schedule at East Carolina and has the name of a painter. Would probably be the second best safety on the Steelers right now.
Round 6
Ekom Udofia NT Stanford
Height: 6-2. Weight: 315.
Projected 40 Time: 5.12.
Combine 40 Time: .
Benchx225: . Vertical: .
Projected Round (2009): 6-7.
Doesn't have the prototypical size for a NT. Good run stopped and can even get into the backfield for sacks. Still, size could be an issue but the motor and toughness is there
Round 7
Davis Gettis WR Baylor
Height: 6-3. Weight: 217.
Projected 40 Time: 4.44.
Combine 40 Time: 4.47.
Vertical: . Broad: 10-4.
Projected Round (2010): FA.
Good size and can kick return. Good 40, had an average senior year but could be groomed to be a starting receiver down the road.

I want help on the O-line in the 1st round rather than the D-line, but other than that, I like what you've done.

I don't like the history of PSU D-linemen (C.Brown, etc) but I could see the logic. I like the Spikes pick in Rd 2 but I think they'd have to move up to get him. Your pix of the CB & S later on are OK but I'd rather have a thumper like Taylor Mays patrolling back there w/ fellow Trojan alum Troy.
Now that Cryan Clark is possibly leaving town, I hope the Stillers address the Safety issue in Rd One. Earl Thomas or Mays would be welcome additions. I know Combine numbers can be overhyped, but Mays' 40 yd times were off the chart for someone in the 225 lb range.

I can't think of a player in this draft worse for the Steelers than Taylor Mays. Doesn't know how to play the ball and has terrible hips.
Re: Anthonyc20 Stillers mock Draft v3.0
Odrick is a good fit and hopefully could learn some toughness from A. Smith for a year or two.
Spikes......do not like him.......scared to run at the combine because he is going to run a 4.85 at the Fla. speed track which means he'd have run 5.00 at the combine. In the pass happy NFL we need a guy who can run and cover TE's and RB's. I loved Levon Kirkland but the big running stuffing LB's are a thing of the past.
I'd prefer a FS or SS or CB at #2.
I don't see the Steelers drafting any OL.........they took Urbik last yr and they love Starks and Colon........I like that Saffold kid from Indiana as a OT and OG but I just don't see Colbert taking any OL.
I'd look for Colbert to get another Ziggy Hood like DL.........maybe Mike Neal, Torrell Troup, Lamar Houston or Corey Peters.
I liked SS Darrell Stuckey from Kansas after seeing him run and move at the combine.
I also like FB (dare I say FB) John Conner from Kentucky........a true thumper to replace the useless blocking of Carey Davis.
I also agree Taylor Mays is all athlete and no football player........think of him as Vernon Gholston #2. I live in SoCal and see USC see play every Sat. and Mays is just big and fast..........makes NO plays......let the Raiders have him.

I'll give it a go.
1- ILB Weatherspoon. Wexells article on Scouts has me completely sold.
2- RG Jon Asamoah. Would go with Nate Allen if Clark does leave.
3- NT Torrell Troup.
4- TE Nate Byham. One of my favorite players in the draft. Heath Miller Lite. Everything asshat Speath isn't.
