It Could Get Ugly

Postby StillViews » Sun Nov 29, 2009 10:08 am

Does anyone think the Brucey Arians has any unique plays installed in the offense to take advantage of Dixon's God given athleticism? Dixon has been in the system for 2 years now as the number 3 QB - is it possible that Brucey has taken advantage of this 2 years of service to install and occasionally practice a "Dixon package" just in case the opportunity presented itself to have him play?

Two things are certain. 1 - Based on his sheer inexperience Dennis Dixon is NOT going to be as effective as Ben or Charlie at reading the confusing defensive fronts that the Raven's will employ and make the split-second correct decisions. 2 - Bruce Arians will NOT have prepared for this moment and will NOT have any misdirection, run-pass roll outs or other plays that one would employ to take advantage of a highly athletic QB. All one needs to do is watch the plays that are now called regularly in the Tenesse Titans offense with Vince Young at QB vs those that were called with Kerry Collins at the helm. The Titans offense has several plays installed now that take full advantage of Young's exceptional athleticism and really challenges the defense. These plays also will make a defense pay if they employ all out blitzes. Dixon possesses a similar skillset as Young and certainly could be used to present "new and different" challenges to the Raven's offense that they would not have seen previously with Ben Roth as the play caller.

Instead I anticipate that Arians will call basically the same play calling that he would with Ben Roth at the helm. He likely will mix in more runs on first and second downs from standard formation which the Raven's will see coming and stuff. I'm afraid we will see lot's of 3rd and long and it could be ugly.

Same ol'...same ol'. When Dixon fucks up it'll be Bruce's fault. If Dixon shines it'll be because he's just oh so gifted and should replace Ben immediately. Some of you guys are so obviously transparent that it's pathetic.

even with a mild concussion it's almost impossible to recover and be 100% in a week, and head injuries aren't something to fuck with. I've had a couple from boxing and it usually took me a full week of rest before i felt right again.

with that said, i'm all for sitting ben if he doesn't feel ready to play. even if we take a loss today we're still in the running for the playoffs. as much as i'd hate the team to drop 3 in a row, the season won't be over. however, if we lose ben to a season-ending injury we can kiss our chances goodbye
