Mike Wallace appreciation thread
Lets take a look back...
End of last season we lose Nate Washington who goes off to sign with the Titans. We lose a very valuable player who filled the #3 WR spot valiantly. Deep threat, reliable hands.
Going into this season much was expected of Limas Sweed. Not much was really expected of Mike Wallace, the 3rd round pick rookie.
Yet through the preseason, we already saw some affinity between Wallace and Big Ben.
It was even somewhat surprising the first couple times Wallace got touches, like people were thinking "what? whose this guy".
That's what I know I was thinking atleast...
As Sweed kept dropping passes, Wallace kept catching them.
Now here we are halfway through the season. While I wouldn't consider him ROY worthy just yet, Mike Wallace leads all rookies in recieving this year.
That's a profound statement.
I will go so far as to say it's been a very long time since a rookie at this position has stepped up this quickly for us since Plexico.
He has the hands, adjusts well to catch the ball in space, and he has the rare spead necessary for separation down the sidelines or up the middle.
As a Rookie playing wide reciever in this league, he has stepped up for more than I'm sure any of us expected as a 3rd round pick in his first year playing.
Hopefully this is just the beginning with him, and his upside continues.
IF he can do this as a rookie, we can only be so optimistic as to see what he may be capable of in the future.
Obviously I would love to see another breakout reciever star on the team.

all good points. Wally certainly has been Da Man thus far. Runs good routes; adjusts & catches well; takes a hit and holds on. Nate was a good vertical WR but not nearly as polished as Wally on curls and drags.

What a steal this guy has been. Not only does he have reliable hands, he's probably the fastest player on the team. He will easily be a guy you can count on having 50 catches & 5-6 TDs every yr. If I were that greasy-fingered Longhorn Sweed, I' start looking for a convenience store job back in Austin.
