I'm so glad that the Steeler Defense went away from the (PREVENT DEFENSE) in the first half! Boy, was that working well! What's up with playing 15 yards off of the receivers?????

Make sure to include the normal beatings for Farrior and Woodley. I don't think I could make it through the week without the draconion rambling. Now Limas Peed's stupid block in the back on the great run back was purely putrid horse shit dumbass rookie play...PLEASE PLEASE I'm Beggin Tomlin please sit his no catchin, asinine, rookie mistake makin, thumb suckin ass ride the flippin pine like Mendy earlier this season till he figures out that he's actually playing in the NFL

I enjoyed the game! I was worried about lots of things in the first half. Mendenhall made a terrible block attempt on a Ben sack...weak...defense played way too far off the recievers...and people were not staying in their lanes..way to many yards on runs and catches in the first half for the Broncos...
but things certainly got better. The line opened up bigger an dbigger holes as the third and fourth quarters continued...the D became more agressive and disciplined and The Offense began letting Ben make the calls. Even special teams was covering better and still being agressive.
I think I would give the Hard Hat to Mendenhall or the O-line...we really needed to have a running performance like this to keep other teams honest!

Re: New Article: Stillers-Doncos Postgame Report & Grades
Not much to add here, Mill. I assume the wide receivers get an A- or better? (Wallace was actually the weakest of the three and would prevent the unit from receiving a solid A.) The defense did very well, bending a bit too much on the first drive but otherwise stifling Denver and its junior varsity QB. What was most encouraging heading into the Cinci game was that the defense stuffed the run - I am more concerned about Benson than Palmer this weekend. On offense, you could probably downgrade Ben R to a B, though his recovery and poise after the strip TD by Denver were admirable. The offensive line is better than I ever thought it would be - I thought last year's playoff run was the ceiling for this group. Right now the Steelers offense is better than last year's, especially when Ben is liberated in the no huddle and the defense is rounding into form despite a number of injuries. (When will Timmons return? Though of course Fox is doing fine in his place.) Sunday's game is definitely the most important of the season now that the Ravens are leveling out and a wild card spot is virtually a guarantee. Beware injuries, overconfidence, and peaking too early!

Re: New Article: Stillers-Doncos Postgame Report & Grades
I have been reading the posts on this site for over a year now, but haven't posted because someone usually says what is on my mind. SteelMill, I think you are a very smart guy who is able to use enough creative writing to keep people coming back regardless of your vulgar attitude. Not saying I agree or disagree with you all the time, but your style is interesting.
Anyways, I just wanted to point something out that you missed in your post game grading report. If I remember correctly, it was the 2nd or 3rd quarter and the Steelers punted inside the Broncos 20 and the guy caught the ball and started running with it. He turned the corner and it appeared he was about to rip off at least a 50-60 yard return, but Sepulveda had a very good tackle (shoulder into the opponents body) that stopped the guy for about 15-20 yards instead. I thought that was a very underrated play during the game, because it was still close and if that guy turns the corner with out Sepulveda there, he might take it to the house. So I think Sepulveda deserves his credit when it is due. The guy is a LB playing punter and he put a very nice hit on the returner. Just wanted to give him his props.
As far as the hard hat award goes. I saw a lot of people say Mendenhall, which I don't object to, but I think Tyrone Carter and Brett Keisel deserve some consideration as well. Yes, they had fewer impact plays than Mendenhall, but the few plays they did make were game changing or drive killing plays. I like to see the unsung hero get his due every now and again.
Also, you forgot to mention how Stephan Logan took a handful of kickoffs out of the endzone that were a good 5 yards deep, and proceeded to get stuffed short or at the 20 yard line. Wasn't a back breaker in any way, but this guy sure has been making Najeh Davenport look good lately.

"............DC: Dick was carved up in the 1st series for the methodical FG march, and had problems the entire 1H getting off the field. Some may wonder why Tomlin didn’t call a TO near the end of the 1H. The reason was simple -- he was terrified of Dick’s defense getting gashed, so he figured the safest route was to run out the clock. B+ ........"
++++++++++++++
The pittsburgh D did not give up a TD, no rushing first downs, and seemed to do some creative scheme adjustments in the 2nd half with Troy and others. Mill, I think Dick should get just a bit more credit and/or write up when the Pitt D plays this well. Sure, Orton throw some boners out there, but it at least appeared that the Steelers made some adjustments at the half to reduce the amount of easy first downs the Broncos were getting, etc.
Also, William Gay, the primary reason why the Broncos were able to move the ball early in the game, admitted that he "needed to settle down" and he eventually did.
I think B+ is fair, but would have like to hear more about some of the things Dick did well.... I'm sure there are a few things that could be mentioned =)

Re: New Article: Stillers-Doncos Postgame Report & Grades
PS I concur in the recommendation that Kiesel get the Hard Hat. And I predict that's what Mill will do - he favors effort and big plays on defense to big stats on offense (note the tendency to overlook Ben R for the HH). I don't have a problem with this tendency - QBs, RBs, and receivers get most of the attention anyway. Mendenhall did have a great game but only one of the big runs came before the Steelers took the lead for good.
Re: New Article: Stillers-Doncos Postgame Report & Grades
So much for the vaunted Donkos (Donk or donkey is the mark in poker, please take a seat on my right ) I hope they make the playoffs instead of SD and bring Kyle Dorkin with em. Dorkin for Cutler yeah there's genius, haha. Mendy had a good game at the end on last drive of game he showed holding ball high & tight. Last big run to his left he failed to switch the ball to outside and ran out of bounds instead of chew more clock, but he will learn. The team looks likes it coming together at a perfect time and maybe beats up on Cinn bad this weekend. Try some more No-Huddle or Muddle, make em one dimensional and then beat on em.

Really disappointed in the Mill.
I've been reading this site for so long, that when the one and only pass to Limas 'peed the bed and still does' clanged of his stone hands, I thought to myself he just earned himself another beating on Stillers.com.
Nothing...?
hmm

Mill, I don't always agree with you, but that's okay. You give a great analysis and have some great observations. I love the humor in your vulgarity and sometimes vulgarity is needed to show the true level of frustration and/or intensity that a die-hard Steeler fan has. If people don't like it, FUCK 'EM.
Keep up the good work!

A 28-10 ASS FUCKING of the 6-1 Donkeys in their house. The same Donkeys who punked the Patsies in that same house earlier in the season. Defense gave up only THREE POINTS! A's all around in my book and also for your ol' buddy Dullard Dick. Go ahead and fret about the yards. I only care about SCOREBOARD.

Great read, I must agree that Tomlin BS with the Clark, is he going to play or not, was not needed It was like a soap opera all week. Woodley looks to be slightly increasing his presence, and Harrison is all over the place. Hopefully the D will show up against the Bungles. Oh yeah Mendyfor HH!!!
