Arians admits... LLoydgreene was right.

I have opined over the last couple of weeks that part of our 4th quarter issues were directly related to a shutdown of the run game in teh second half- not by the other team, but by our Offensive Coordinator.
Mendy had a good first half three weeks ago and was ignored in the second half. Last week he ran for 165. This week he had 62 or 65 in the first half and finished with 77 for the game.
While Arians admits to being greedy, where the hell is Coach Tomlin? Isn't it his responsibility to control game time strategy? Do you think Cowher would let a 2- TD lead possessing OC take the run game out of the mix in the 2nd half?
I am somewhere in between Cowher and Arians here. Cowher had a defense that could hold a two-score lead. I don't want us to take the air out of the ball, I want us to be balanced. When they know you are going to run, they stop the run, when they know your tendency is to pass, they start playing the pass. Is there any doubt what Arians wants to do after halftime?
Arians is too impatient and needs to be tempered by our head coach.
As always, it's the win that counts.

You would not have to worry about running the ball and pining over idiot Bruce if we had a defense that could stop someone. Where is the outcry to fire Dick. He cannot hold a lead or put together a defensive plan to stop the lowly Lions with a beat up old journeyman quarterback. Fire Dick, the new king of pansy football

I agree about the defense not being a shut down defense, but a proclivity to pass the ball in the second half makes the other team more likely to stop us, or leave time on the clock for a come back, or worst-case a turnover.
I am just saying that a BALANCED EFFORT in the second halves of some of these games would have made things harder for the opposing team.
I really think it is ignorant to suggest we fire LeBeau. Short-term thinkers like you need to remember that there are 11 games left to go and the Steelers Defense was number one last year. All of a sudden LeBeau doesn' know how to coach? IMO, I disagree. As I have said, you will see how much he is missed when he eventually retires and everyone laments the loss.

I agree with you on the play calling which I do not think there is anyone on this site that does not want Bruce Arians replaced. It just frustrating to watch a once proud defensive minded club falter to the play of the bottom dewellers of the league. It is Mike Tomlin's job to keep Dick in check. No matter how you sugar coat it Dick has done an absolute lousy job this season. He has mailed in for this year in true Bill Cowher fashion and it is Mike Tomlin's fault for letting it happen.

No question, our D has played sub par to this point.
Troy coming back will help, but will not correct major issues with Farrior not being able to cover and slow reacting.
Poor depth at CB and poor coverage..Carter and Clark are awful.
Ratliff is useless and a liability.
Perhaps, we overrated our D?!
Our D has also, been gashed vs the run on occasion, something that didn't happen last season.
Horrific 3rd down D..3rd and 10+ and we can not get off the field?!??!

Our offense has protected our D thus far, in the season. We have dominated TOP with the exception of yesterday, which has saved our D from further embarrassment.

Is there some reason for this that we're not considering? Is he pissed? Were there player(s) not drafted that he coveted? Was he overruled in that player(s) were let go that he wanted to keep? We need an investigative reporter to dig this stuff out.

We have officially gone from Defending Super Bowl Champions to fighting for the playoffs.
I agree with the criticism of our play. But we were criticized a lot last year right up until we won the Super Bowl. I can only say that I think our coaches see what we see and are working to address the issues and that we will improve back to form. I do think we will.
It is weird to me that the O-line has stayed out of the majority of the criticism the last few weeks.
I'm not a coach, but Arians plays one on TV.
I agree with the criticism of our play. But we were criticized a lot last year right up until we won the Super Bowl. I can only say that I think our coaches see what we see and are working to address the issues and that we will improve back to form. I do think we will.

Mendy is making OL look good. Kemo was a beast w/SD game. Good blocks against Det. as well.
I can't help but believe line doing a bit more for Mendy since he is hitting holes quicker and getting into 2nd level consistently.
This does make the line look good but why the "extra effort" by OL for Mendy (if they do anything different at all)? Love to know BUT that said, if coach staff remains in FWP's camp as starter, the apocalypse is upon us. Surely HC, OC and line coach have to see the difference. FWP will make for great change of pace as long as he is used for outside, open spaces.
For the life of me, as long as Miller has been in #83 and a Steeler, I KNOW he comes out of the locker room for 2nd half. I know he doesn't get JUST a one half of a game check. Why,... WHY IN THE SAM HILL do they change from what's working?
He is never involved in 2nd half of ANY game.
Tired of Colon's false starts, Spaeth's holding calls already. Get Spaeth 5 yds downfield on a safety and get him working as a chain-mover. He CAN'T FREAKING BLOCK, might as well learn to catch and work a secondary.

Tomlin needs to grow a big pointy chin and then use it! 
And I echo the above, This O'line is still pretty poor at run blocking, one play yesterday,
I payed attention to the line of scriimage and where we thought our battles, it was behind the line of scrimmage,
Mendy wrapped up for a Next week, let alone the Vikes will be a challenge for our new supposed two pronged attack.

Everyone and their uncle knows that our 4th Quarter problems are primarily defensive

I will add that everyone and their uncle also knows that our OL is kicking ass, that Dick LeBeau is having some coaching issues, and that complacency is the WRONG philosophy if we expect continued success.
