Postby HereWeGo » Mon Oct 12, 2009 12:54 am

tyrone carter is trash.

yes. polamalu is THAT important. and yeah, we all watched you, woodley. we weren't all that impressed. but welcome back to the action nonetheless. get some more of it.

i want to say pgheaven said it: look forward to the defense during the second half of the season. (assuming they stay healthy.)

:sufu: detroit. we'll take it.

3-2 is not a bad place to be right now.

agreed. Not that Carter sucks, but that TP is simply outstanding. Carter suffers by comparison. He would be an ok player anywhere else, as he is simply fillinf out his role as a deepp safety and does not have the talent to free lance or blitz or stuff the run or cover or ....

oh crap you're right! Carter is trash.

TP43 does amazing things that no one else can get away with, so Coach LeBeau is able to scheme differently when he is in the game. I do think it is a little unfair to expect Carter to play on that level, but it would be nice if he played on an NFL level!

Troy is exceptional, but Carter is below average at best particularly at that position. Carter's best attribute is to hit people. He is slow, lacks range, and is a huge liability in the passing game. Against fast running backs, he also is huge liability. :(

If needed, he would be better filling in for Clark than Troy simply becuase his skill set matches better with what Clark does than what Troy does. To fill in for Troy, we need a fast athletic rover type. I do not think we have one on the roster. This is one of the talent gaps we have, which is meaningless if Troy is healthy.

I was hoping Mundy would take a step forward or one of the corners would be able to play safety to fill this gap. We are still waiting for productive play.
