Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers SS Troy Polamalu (knee) will try to participate in practice this week. Head coach Mike Tomlin said Polamalu's availability for Week 5 is uncertain at this point.


ESPN reports Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said RB Willie Parker (toe) is expected to practice in some limited fashion this week, perhaps as early as Wednesday, Oct. 7.

It would be absolutely insane to play Troy vs Detroit. In fact, I would only play him a little vs Cleveland just to get him closer to shape for when they play Minny.

Ryan Clark seems to agree

Mark Kaboly, for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, reports Pittsburgh Steelers FS Ryan Clark said he does not want SS Troy Polamalu to play in Week 5 because he does not want Polamalu to rush his return from injury. "Me personally, I would rather have him for the last 10 (games) or the last stretch rather than have him come out and injure himself again and set himself back," Clark said.
