We dominated for 3 quarters and the clock struck midnite and gasp the 4th quarter started. Hopefully, when Pola gets back will at least be able to slow them down so they dont score so quick (1:30 mins) on 70+ yd drive, sic. Why isn't the hands team in the 4th when were up by 14? First TD, we have Legursky as the FB, wow, we brought back Bronco Legursky to resurrect or short yardage game, i luv it. I thought he was dead? We didnt turtle up on the last offensive drive and we put the game away, good job. What ur not counting on the D to hold a 7point lead with 1min left? We should eaisly win the next 2 games, but we must, and we have already reached or allotment of give 2 away. This team looks better on paper than last years. It would be a shame to piss it away. Were back in the hunt :).

Anyone concerned about the 4-play TD drive SD had in 4th qtr?
Ike had a shot to get Gates out of bounds and gave a limp-wristed attempt to push him out.

WHAT IS IN THEIR HEADS IN 4TH QTR? Are we becoming S.O.S. (Same Old Steelers)? Finding different ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?

I hope MT is reviewing a checklist before each game: Watch your routes, don't try to do too much (Logan's blunder), catch an on-side kick BEFORE you try to smother it, ...yada, yada, yada. So few games, so many ways to lose.

AS A MAJOR CRITIC OF ARIANS: I will gladly eat crow today for lunch. He called a terrific game. I will say he showed some variety, creativity and guts.

That said, can I ask why Wallace disappeared? And as great a game as Mendy had, and I am glad he had it, I was just as relieved at games' end he was not hurt. I am not a fan of 25+ carries. When you run upright like he does, fumbles happen, and if he's tired, he will be prone to them. Coaches need to get him to get lower. I understand you go with who's hot but let's be smart about it. Overall, good game, but I said to anyone listening, at 35-21, we're gonna lose this thing. C'mon, a lotof you were saying the same! Admit it!

Another thing: Anyone concerned Reed's kicks, even his PAT's, are hooking SEVERELY to the left?
To where it appears the PAT's are not automatic? Or is it me? His one in Cincy BAREKY made it in.

Gates, whom they were so concerned about, took the "D" to school in 2nd half. Where is the double team? An extra back instead of James (Harrison or Farrior) chasing is butt all over the field to keep his hands off the ball.

Ike had Vincent covered and they couldn't run. NOW STOP the guy who's killing you.

Farrior can't cover a single bed with a king-sized blanket. Get him off the field with leads and get a DB or Safety in there for double-teams.

Help me here if I am wrong.

Thank you much, Mill

Very good points made, especially why did Dick play two ILB's
when we were up by so many points..unacceptable and ridiculous.

I'm concerned that our defense, giving up 4th quarter leads is becoming a trend this season..the more opposing offenses, see our defensive schemes, the more familiar our blitzes become...at this point, our offense is going to need to, put up four to five TD's every game.

I am nearly convinced that, switching to a 4-3 cover 2 defense, in the future, is the best coarse.

Overall, an outstanding performance against an overrated, overhyped team..I will happily accept the win.

Wow... A truly exhilirating win and Mill wants to blast the coordinators? I can see bitchin' about the special teams... but the defense was stout and the outcome of the game really was NOT in question at any point...

As for taking Farrior off the field. In a word, rid-fricking-diculous. He has not lost a step and is as solid an ILB as can be found in the league.

Usually I can agree with Mill's recaps, but this one jumps the shark. Arians is a damn good OC (and getting better by the game), and Dick is the best DC in league history.

Go Stillers!

In the 2Q, he blistered an inside-rushing linebacker so hard that he literally dumped the LB to the ground.

Best part of this block was the crowd reaction. There was a loud cheer on the hit as the play continued. Way to go Stiller Fans.

I am just glad that the missed block on the first play of the game did not happen again.

Nice to get a win. When you look past that, the problems of the last 2 weeks are still evident. The game almost got away from us again due to Special Teams blunders, and a Shredded Cheese Defense. The only difference in the Defense when it was getting shredded this time, is Lebeau was blitzing. We left the middle of the field wide open, and Gates and Rivers had a field day. Two special teams blunders let them back in to what would have been a solid blowout. This team is in dire need of Polamalu returning. I think that may shore up the middle of the D, because Lebeau is not gonna sit Taunto anytime soon.
Bruce Arians: Proudly carried the Honor of Short Bus All-Star 2007-2011. Good job, and glad you're gone Dumbfuck!!!!!

Tom Jackson gives Mendy a game ball, BUT does he deserve a HARD HAT Award from Mill. I hope he gets it - much more prestige!

Who was that guy on the sidelines with the glasses and Stiller Playbook???? That couldn't be OUR Bruce Arians??? He attacked the weak point of an opposing defense, and once he exposed the weakness he kept attacking it over and over again. This is not OUR Bruce Arians. As Mill points out, instead of his usual meaningless, down-wasting plunge into the line, he started with 3 straight passes, which opened up the running game even more. Then, there were 2 gadget plays, once of which scored a TD. Is it possible that Tomlin has been holding this guy back and making him play it conservative????

I don't know who this imposter is, but I hope we can keep him.

Mckeesrocks, I am with you about the 25+ runs per game. I think it may have ruined FWP. I had this thought that you could put both Mendy and FWP in the backfield at the same time and play to each of their strengths. Use Mendy for power running and FWP for sweeps, slants and pitches. Just a thought.
Hell, with that game Sunday night, maybe the shackles are off and Arians will start innovating and playing to the strengths of the players. I have to agree, he called a creative, hard-nosed, gutsy, aggressive game for 60 minutes. Great to see.

I just think that MANY things we did were TRULY GOOD!

First Half was almost FLAWLESS in ALL aspects (well, Reed kicked only PATs)

We should see the SIMILAR if not more brutal outcome next Sunday. If that is the case, then we shift focus on our second half woes.

Is it the opponents adjustments, or the fact that we turtle on D a bit too much - don't care. Tomlin should and will look at the tapes, find the problem and if he IS as smart as I hope he is - HE will make the CHANGES that NEED TO BE DONE. Be it playcalling, formation, intensity or even personnel.

I like what he did to Mendy. I'd like to bench some in our LB corps too.

We go next 2 weeks 2:0, we should be in good shape.

Still an Optimist.

Hey, Pump N Iron, if you find out who THAT guy was, ask him if he can remove Blood Clots. Tell him we need him in the 'Burgh.

Our REAL OC does not attack, fool, fake, exploit, or use his players to their talents. The OC in this game did.

Man, why can't WE get guys like that?

PS: As a huge criticizer(sp?) of Bruce "Blood Clot" Arians, he has stepped up his game. This game was awesome offensively. It got to where I wanted 500 yds and got mad we DIDN'T go for it before we kicked FG.

Still Mill's film analysis of FWP v Mendy is awesome.

While I would like to be extremely optimistic and hope that Bruce Arians will be this good all the time, I am reminded of an old, broken pocketwatch my father gave me. It hasn't worked for 25 years, but it's still right twice a day.

I agree. I was so happy to see us push an opponent backwards on first down last Sunday. I also was on Arians ASS for much of this season, but I overwhelmingly want him to succeed and would be very happy if he does.

As for trashing your avatar and name, agreed. There will always be someone who is underperforming to our expectation that we can "fire" later. Maybe it will change to "Fire Tomllin" if he loses a playoff game this year... lol.

I admit it. And we were quite close to a shocking ending. So close that it was unforgiveable. The offense looked great. They hustled hit and ground down the Chrgettes. Hits and domination all around. The defense was FN PUTRID in the 4th QTR. Same problem that has haunted us since the SB. The problem has NOT been fixed. It is WORSE. We can NOT depend on 40 points every game, which obviously means that left unattended, LeBeaus defense will result in L's. But lets not talk falsely here. NO WAY we advance in the playoffs - nor deserve to - if the defensive malaise is not fixed
