It's Arians Stupid
Arians must go. I attribute this loss completely to him. Yeah the defense gave up 17 points yesterday which is higher than their average over the last 20 games but this offense ought to be capable of putting up enough points to be in the top half of the league in scoring. Instead they were in the bottom 4 going into yesterday. They have weapons all around and should be scoring 24 or more points every game.
Yesterday, I was impressed for 3 quarters at how the offense played. While they definitely left points on the field they sustained drives and mixed things up nicely. However as soon as the 4th quarter came, Arians choked. The Steelers offense promptly went into the 2 runs into the line of first and second downs followed by a 3rd and long mode. Consequently the Steelers Defense had a one minute rest and were back on the field again. Anyone who has watched the Steelers for the last 3 seasons has seen this before. Arians offense cannot protect a lead. There is WAAAAY TOO much time left to go into clock control mode. Instead of continuing to mix things up on offense which worked for the first 3 quarters, Brucey goes into prevent offense mode when he has a lead in the 4th quarter. When it counts the most he fails to utilize the strengths of our offense and instead relies on what we all know is the weakness.
I can only think of 3 explanations:
1 - Arians believes that we have Jim Brown in the backfield and we can sustain a 15 minute drive to close out the game with our completely dominant running game.
2 - Arians doesn't understand that you can't run out the clock or even force a team to burn a timeout until there is about 3 mins left in a game and you possess the ball. Until that time of the game arrives, it should be attack, attack, attack.
3 - Arians chokes under pressure. All the 4th quarter heroics we've seen from the Steelers offense have been solely attributable to the "no huddle" offense. That play calling is done by Ben Roth. Over the last 3 seasons when Arians is left to call the plays while nursing a 4th quarter lead he consistently has turned passive which has resulted in 3 and outs and putting our defense in a bad situation.
I put this loss SQUARELY on Bruce Arians shoulders.

Re: It's Arians Stupid
what bother me is that is refusal to play a regular FB cost this team Yesterday,
When Defacto TE David Johnson got hurt we were Forced to use Miller as the Blocking TE taking him completly out of the passing Game, all because Speath can't block a s__T.

Re: It's Arians Stupid
Did anyone notice the play they ran early where Arians has all our best blockers move out to split end - I think Johnons and Miller both went out there - then they run it the opposite direction for a 2yard loss.
Who even dreams a play like that up other than Arians?
In effect that is like putting all of our best WRs on one side of the field and throw to an empty patch of grass on the other side.
