Reed's misses did not lose the game @CHI

Postby steelcitymetal » Mon Sep 21, 2009 1:26 pm

If Reed makes both, we are only up by 6. On their final drive, the Bears moved down the field with ease. We only forced fourth down because they got into field goal range and stopped passing the ball.

If a field goal wouldn't have won the game for them, they would have continued passing and moving down the field.

They would have won the game either way. 17-14 or 21-20.

We need Polamalu back.

We don't miss the field goal and they probably don't get as favorable field position

I really think the misses hurt bad. Field position is everything. Who knows...they could have slipped on the return or fumbled the ball after the made fieldgoals. I'm really not concerned because Reed usually doesn't miss those gimmies.

What bothers me most about the misses is that they didn't even have the correct rotation. They looked like they were kicked by someone with a sphincter puckered so tight that he couldn't pass a pencil.

I agree. Field goals are a last resort to score on a drive that definitely will not result in a touchdown. The calibre of this offense, there should have been more t.d.'s scored by BR7 & Company and not depend on f.g.'s when the kicker is having an off day. What wasn't mentioned is if the field at that spot was not good even though they just resodded the field. That game should have long been out of reach for the Chi Bears...

I agree, it sure would be nice to see the Steelers blow the other team away once in a while.

Reed has been kicking on bad sod his whole career so you can't blame it on the turf...maybe it was the hold from supulveda or maybe he just had a bad day. To come away with no points around the red zone usually comes back to haunt you...and it did...he was special team player of the week last week so I look for him to bounce back next week against the Bengals which by the way we can't take lightly. They should be 2-0 if not for a fluke play...No pressure on Palmer could and will spell trouble for our secondary.

As they say --

"When the tide goes out, you get to see who has been swimming around naked." I got a feeling we are about to learn alot about this team against the Bungals.

Fuck it - this one's in the bag and we can't change the outcome.

I'll give JR a free pass for Sunday's loss vs Chitown, he has been so clutch for us for years and he was due for a shitty day, Hey, it is what it is, but Rodney harrison brought up a good point without troy, wey turn from a great defense to a good defense, troy needs to get healthy fast, not rush back fast. Evil was getting picked apart for a good portion of the game.

True. Troy is half our abillity to do our crazed and amazingly confusing blitzes. And as a side note, where the hell is the flyin' hawaiian in your sig picture? I dont know how recent it is thats why i ask.
