Pete Prisco's CBS Power Rankings
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/12211259
I have always known that Pete Prisco was a total Choad Monkey, but how much more obvious can he get about slobbering on Tom Brady's knob???
Now, I realize that rankings in general are total BS, and don't count for anything. But the Pats needed a ridiculous fluke to beat the Bills and they are still ranked #1. No objective journalist could ever perceive them as #1. IMO, the NY Giants looked stronger than anyone else in Week 1.

Re: Pete Prisco's CBS Power Rankings
Pats are as good as any other team to put #1. They were ranked number one by most lists going into the season. Do we throw that all away after one game where the Pats score 2tds in a span of minutes to win? Merriweather's hit and strip was quite spectactular. Big win in an intradivisional game.
I can't believe the number of power rankings on the big websites that still have the steelers #2. I thought for sure they would drop with that o-line and lack of running game.

I disagree.
We are the World Champions.
We beat a world championship contender.
The Pats beat...not so much.
The media bias..at its best.

Re: Pete Prisco's CBS Power Rankings
I think it comes down to this. The Stillers are not a glamorous or sexy team. No pseudo-movie stars ala Tom "The Second Coming" Brady, no rehashed old farts thrutching at one more chance for glory – I’m sure Farve will drag this one out ad nauseam (does anyone else see a 4th or 5th comeback), no locker room prima donnas like Terrell Owens, no criminals – Ray Lewis anyone, and no über-genius utterly boorish head coaches aka Bill Belichick (whatever cheater).
The Stillers just win – a LOT – playing tough, gritty team football on both sides of the ball. True students of the game appreciate that flash, although fun to watch (think Phoenix Suns under Mike D’Antoni), does not win over fundamental execution and dogged determination (think San Antonio Spurs from 1999 to 2007). My apologies for the basketball reference, it just seemed to fit.
The fact is that the media goes nuts about stories they think people will buy. They are sharks when there's blood in the water. And Mr. Bündchen sells advertising minutes and ads, bottom line. It’s the same mentality that sells gossip about J-Lo and Brad Pitt. It’s idiotic and has sadly infiltrated the higher pursuit (in my mind) of sporting excellence.
And is there a media bias against the Stillers? Subjectively, I say hell yeah. Objectively, I say yes again for the reasons mentioned above. Stability, integrity, teamwork and tradition are paid lip service by knucklehead announcers like John Madden. By the way, sayonara you moron; your teams were the biggest bunch of criminals and dirty players ever to step foot on the gridiron. Generally though, these positive qualities fly under the radar. This has always been the case and that’s okay by me. The glamour and glitz of a lot of teams is irrelevant when it comes time to put on super bowl rings. The Stillers have been the most successful team in the Super Bowl era and will continue to be in the foreseeable future.
First, we have to ditch Bruce “airhead†Arians but that is of course another discussion. And I've rambled enough.

The Steelers are the defending Champs and should have the #1 ranking until they are defeated. That said. I pefer that the Steelers are not ranked #1. It feels that in the past as the media starts placing them on top the Steelers find a way to lose.

The Steelers were world champions of the 2008-09 season. All we have done this season is win one game, albeit against a quality opponent.

No you guys don't understand. Prisco is the worst writer in all of the NFL. I honestly don't know why his homely ass isn't fired yet. CBS must like the controversy he stirs up by making "bold" (i.e. stupid) predictions and sucking Tom Brady's vagina. He's only 8-8 picking games week 1. Just take at some of his awesome predictions for week 2.
Bengals over Packers
Dolphins over Colts
Texans over Titans (must be pissed at the Titans since they didn't beat the Steelers)
Bears over Steelers (picks against the Steelers for the second straight week)
Lions over Vikings (is he on acid?)
