Urlacher is out for the year
Posted by Mike Florio on September 14, 2009 11:03 AM ET
The good news is that there likely will be no tension this year between Bears quarterback Jay Cutler and Bears middle linebacker Brian Urlacher.
Urlacher says, per the Chicago Tribune, that he likely will miss the entire season after undergoing surgery Monday to repair a dislocated wrist.
Specifically, Urlacher told Vaughn McClure of the Tribune via text message "season is over."
The club has not yet confirmed the development, and coach Lovie Smith is expected to address the situation at his Monday press conference.
Seventh-year veteran Hunter Hillenmeyer replaced Urlacher last night. It remains to be seen whether the Bears add a veteran middle linebacker.
One top-of-the-head possibility is Napoleon Harris, who has performed well in the Vikings' verstion of the Cover 2 defense in two separate stints. Harris recently re-joined the Raiders, but thereafter was cut.

Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports the Chicago Bears have placed LB Brian Urlacher (wrist) on Injured Reserve, ending his 2009 season.
George Smith, of ESPNews, reports Chicago Bears LB Hunter Hillenmeyer will replace injured LB Brian Urlacher (wrist) at middle linebacker, while LB Lance Briggs and LB Pisa Tinoisamoa will remain as the outside linebackers.

Devastating blow to the Bears, but they weren't going anywhere this year anyway. Culter has no talent in the WR department.

Well we lose Troy & they lose Urlacher - equal justice, I guess. Thank gawd Cincy, Clowns, & Detroit upcoming, tho San Diego will be a tussle. Good shot at 5-2 by Wk 8, w/ the bye at that point.
