A threat to the dynasty???

Postby PSUPERCY » Tue Aug 18, 2009 10:11 am

I would hate to see this lockout happen in the Steelers heyday. This is the kind of thing that could ruin a teams chemistry. It seems likely though. :suxfingers: :suxfingers:

YEAH, THEY NEED TO GET A DEAL DONE WITH THE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT. MR. ROONEY HAD PRESSED LONG AND HARD AS A SUPPORTER OF THE CBA TO KEEP THE N.F.L. FROM TURNING INTO THE M.L.B. WITH THE YANKEES OF FOOTBALL, NAMELY FUCK-FACE JENNY JONES (NOT A TYPO) OF THE DALASSS COWFUCKERS <REMEMBER THE WAY JENNY JONES GOT DEION SANDERS UNDER THE SALARY CAP BY CUTTING A DEAL WITH NIKE?> AND DAN SNYDER OF THE WASHINGTON FORESKINS FROM SCARFING UP TALENT GROOMED IN OTHER MARKETS. I ADMIT THEY EARN EVERY DOLLAR THEY MAKE, BUT THEY MAKE MORE THAN ANYBODY ELSE DOES RELATIVELY SPEAKING. SORRY FOR THE LONG POST. :subngtowl: :sucope: :subngtowl:

The NFL is the premier league in America right now. What killed MLB? The strike in 1994...I may be wrong but I am assuming a "lockout" and a "strike" are one in the same (except initiated by players or by owners??)...Either way this sort of issue would be a disaster for the fan base that the NFL has built up, over the past decade or two.

The NFL would rebuild faster than baseball did. Some numbers indicate baseball STILL hasn't recovered to a pre-strike level.

But I agree, it would be devastating for the team and for the league. Hope Mr. Rooney is still around when negotiations get intense.

A salary cap is a must. One of the reasons I hate baseball so much is the fact that their is never any excitement about where a highly paid player is going to go. Takes all the fun out of it when you can pencil in the top teams automatically every year

The NFLPA meant business when they elected a lawyer as their rep. They know their is a battle royale about to ensue. In this economy, the players are going to have to make concessions. The lowest-hanging fruit is rookie salaries. Both parties will likely agree to impose a MUCH lower limit on the unproven rooks. After that, don't count on anyone agreeing on anything.
