Well said Still. A good friend of mine is a Redskins fan who is very astute. He doesn't buy into the Billy Cowher BS. He asked me what I thought of BC and I stated the Still Mill mantra, "We won SB 40 in spite of BC, not because of him!" My buddy stated, "That's what I thought!"

We are indeed fortunate to have Tomlin. I can think of no other coach today who would fit the Steeler mentality as well. Thank God I'm not a Cryboys or Raiders fan.

I agree, we could not be more fortunate than to have coach T. As our HC.

Tomlin is seemingly a keen observer of player behaviorisms and dynamics...understanding players as individuals then dealing accordingly with them, much like Noll. Tomlin, like Noll is a teacher and strategist...having the team always prepared for situational pigskin, and adapting while moving forward. Tomlin seems quite humble not allowing success to influence contentness...like Noll, Mikey T...has an competitiveness that drives his inner self, without arrogance or infallibility.

Noll and Tomlin are very similar, and thankfully the contrast of Cowshit.

Yeah, and notice what game that article was following. Tomlin had some exTREMEly questionable calls in that game. Remember stubbornly sticking with the conversion attempt after the penalty? Continuously giving the ball to Davenport?

Yes, those calls and the ABORTION could be blamed on Arians, but the fact that Tomlin allowe these things to happen in his first playoff matchup certainly brought back cowher-like memories we were hoping could be suppressed.

Nonetheless, he turned a new leaf this year, and he deserves a tribute for that.

Yeah, there was no doubt we felt that he had the team motivated to get the win in most of his games this season.

This team had and has a different feeling than the SB 40 team who backed into the playoffs. Many of us had no doubts about Tomlin and this teams ability (-Arians) to win it all this year.
I say good call to write a tribute, knowin you had been critical of him.

Just to comment on this....

Billy Cowhard fully CREATED the musical chairs at QB. He gave Jim Miller a full HALF of ONE game to prove himself, and then immediatley BENCHED him and never allowed him to participate ever again. He insisted on keeping Mike Prozac on the roster FOREVER (for years past any utility Tomczak had), whiich blocked growth, development, and a roster spot for some other QB.

Most of Cowhard's QB problems were created by one man.....Blly Cowher.

Not to mention Cowshits seven year love affair with his personal project, ''The Gimmick'' Kordell Stewart. There is nothing like wasting time and salary cap space on a player who never was going to take his game to the next level...failure to develop players, a Cowshit specialty.

The Steelers IDENTITY is Super Bowl-winning football, not some spittle-spewing, slack-jawed mongoloid's idea of three yards and a cloud of dust. THANK GOD Mike Tomlin is at the helm of this franchise and leads by example and doesn't put up with the whiny crap from the likes of Alan "The Turnstile" Faneca or any other dullard on the team that thinks he can get by on his reputation alone. Outstanding, positive piece from a Stiller critic that is as hard to please and as well respected as Simon Cowell. Remember that when you talk to most people they say Simon is simply brutally honest and his critique is given the most weight on American Idol. (I was watching American Idol tonight and the analogy kind of hit me) Mill has the uncanny ability to OBJECTIVELY and STOICLY evaluate the B&G while simultaneously being a rabid fan. Kudos on a great article!!

I have always been the hugest Silverback fan there is... I special ordered his Jersey 3 years ago before they existed. Cowher was the biggest idiot in the world for not having that guy on the field on every snap. Thankfully Porter stepped away so Deebo could jump in and claim not only Defensive MVP of the league, but the greatest single play in SuperBowl History.

Great article.

I too was extremely critical (& for a moment, I feared that Cowher #2 had been hired) after last year's play-off loss, when Tomlin took the ball out of Big Ben's hands, and allowed an asinine QB draw to be called (Note: Ben was something like 17 of 20 in the final portion of the game...i.e. RED HOT..and should have been allowed to pass).

Then, this year, when all of the marbles were on the table (in the SuperBowl), Tomlin allowed Big Ben to lead the team to victory.
Simply, he did not turtle (as he had the previous post-season).

In other words, any doubts about Tomlin were completely eradicated...because Tomlin learned.
Tomlin is a young head-coach...and he is going to make mistakes. But, the fact that he learns from his mistakes is a huge attribute.

In short, I am thankful (which is not really a strong enough verb) that he is Pittsburgh's coach.
